ความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของปัญหา
ในสังคมยุคปัจจุบันเราปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่าภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาที่เข้ามามีบทบาทสำคัญอย่างมากในสังคมของการติดต่อสื่อสารที่สื่อถึงกันทั่วโลก เนื่องจากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาสากลที่คนทั่วโลกใช้ในการสื่อสาร อีกทั้งทุกๆสายงานยังต้องการบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ความสามารถทางด้านภาษาอังกฤษ เพื่อแสวงหาความรู้ และเข้าถึงแหล่งข้อมูลต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งกระบวนการศึกษาโดยใช้ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นเครื่องช่วยเสริมความสามารถ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นทักษะในด้านของ การฟัง การพูด การอ่าน และการเขียนล้วนแต่สำคัญด้วยกันทั้งสิ้น คนไทยจำนวนมากยังขาดทักษะการเรียนรู้ทางด้านภาษาอังกฤษที่ถูกต้อง และทักษะการเขียนก็เป็นอีกทักษะหนึ่งที่คนไทยเรามองข้ามเนื่องจากส่วนใหญ่เรามักจะคิดว่าทักษะการพูด และการฟังเป็นส่วนสำคัญในชีวิตประจำวันมากกว่า แต่หารู้ไม่ว่าทักษะด้านการเขียนก็มีความสำคัญและมีความหมายกับทุกระดับชั้นเช่นกัน
ในการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษนั้นทั้ง 4 ทักษะ ทักษะการเขียนเป็นทักษะที่ซับซ้อนมากที่สุด และต้องอาศัยองค์ประกอบหลายอย่างจึงจะสามารถเขียนได้ถูกต้อง (วนิดา เพ็ญกิ่งกาญจน์ ม.ป.ป. ซ 3, อ้างถึงใน สุรางค์ สายอุดม 2541 : 1) แม้ว่าทักษะการเขียนมีความสำคัญ แต่ผู้เรียนก็ประสบผลสำเร็จในการเขียนอยู่ในระดับต่ำ ดังจะเห็นได้จากงานวิขัยของ (ยุรีรัตน์ ภูมิกิติชัย 2532 :49) พบว่านักเรียนประสบปัญหาการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษ โดยเฉพาะในเรื่องการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อการสื่อสาร นักเรียนยังไม่สามารถเขียนให้อยู่ในรูปของการสื่อสารได้อย่างถูกต้อง ตามหลักไวยากรณ์และรูปแบบของการเขียน จากข้อความที่เกี่ยวกับการเขียนดังกล่าวข้างต้น สามารถสรุปได้ว่า การเขียนมีความสําคัญ ในการติดต่อสื่อสารระหว่างผู้เขียนกับผู้อ่าน ต้องมีการฝึกฝนการเขียนให้อยู่ในรูปแบบที่ถูกต้อง เสมอๆเพื่อให้สามารถสื่อสารได้อย่างถูกต้องและเข้าใจง่าย การใช้เลือกใช้สื่อก็เป็นอีกองค์ประกอบหนึ่งที่ช่วยในการพัฒนาทักษะทางด้านภาษาซึ่งได้มีผู้เสนอแนะกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ที่น่าสนใจวิธีหนึ่ง คือ การสอนโดยใช้แบบฝึกเสริมทักษะ (อรอุมา ตั้งพัฒนาสมบุญ 2546 : 4) เพราะแบบฝึกสามารถลดภาระขั้นตอนของครู แต่สามารถช่วยเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการเรียนรู้ของผู้เรียนโดยมีเพียงคำชีแจงสั้นๆ ที่ทำให้เข้าใจได้ง่ายขึ้น สามารถใช้เวลาได้เหมาะสม สร้างให้น่าสนใจและท้าทาย ทำให้การเขียนมีเอกภาพและความสมบูณ์ คือได้สนองในความสนใจใคร่รู้และความสามารถของผู้เรียน
จากงานวิจัยในข้างต้นผู้วิจัยเห็นว่าสอดคล้องกับสภาพการเรียนการสอนในปัจจุบันของนักเรียนชั้น ประถมศึกษาปีที่4 ปีการศึกษา 2556 โรงเรียนวังด้ง จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ซึ่งพบว่า นักเรียนร้อยละ 25.25 ยังขาดทักษะด้านการเขียนที่ถูกต้อง โดยสังเกตได้จากคะแนนสอบ Post –test เรื่อง Present Continuous Tense ไม่ผ่านเกณฑ์ หลังจากได้มีการจัดการเรียนการสอนเรื่องนี้ไปแล้วแต่คะแนนที่ได้กลับมีคะแนนที่ต่ำ นักเรียนไม่สามารถเขียนตามหลักไวยากรณ์ได้ โดยมีสาเหตุมาจากนักเรียนไม่รู้โครงสร้างของประโยค และได้รับการฝึกไม่เพียงพอ ไม่สามารถเขียนให้อยู่ในรูปแบบของการใช้ภาษาในการสื่อสารได้เท่าที่ควร ผู้วิจัยในฐานะที่เป็นครูผู้สอนโดยตรงจึงได้ทำการศึกษาและพัฒนาแบบฝึกการเรียนรู้ เรื่อง Present Continuous Tense ขึ้นมาเพื่อพัฒนานักเรียน เนื่องจากนักเรียนกำลังศึกษาในขณะนี้
