เพื่อเป็นการสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับพลังงานและเปิดโอกาสให้บุคคลทั่วไปได้เข้าถึงแหล่งความรู้ด้านปิโตรเลียม บริษัท เชฟรอนประเทศไทยสำรวจและผลิต จำกัด ภายใต้โครงการ “เชฟรอนพลังใจ พลังคน เพื่อชุมชนเข้มแข็ง” ได้สนับสนุนงบประมาณในปรับปรุงศูนย์การเรียนรู้ทางด้านปิโตรเลียมให้กับศูนย์วิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการศึกษานครศรีธรรมราช อำเภอพรหมคีรี จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เพื่อให้เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ด้านพลังงานแห่งใหม่ หลังจากห้องนิทรรศการปิโตรเลียมเดิมปิดตัวมานานเกือบ 10 ปี โดยเมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ นายพิชญ์ ดำรงมณี ผู้จัดการศูนย์ขนส่งทางอากาศ เชฟรอนประเทศไทย ร่วมกับนายบัญญัติ ลายพยัคฆ์ ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์วิทยาศาสตร์เพื่อการศึกษานครศรีธรรมราช นายอำนวย ชูหนู ผู้จัดการโครงการฯ สมาคมพัฒนาประชากรและชุมชน เจ้าหน้าที่ ครูและนักเรียนจากโรงเรียนต่างๆ ในพื้นที่ภาคใต้ทั้งสิ้น 100 คน ได้เข้าร่วมในพิธีเปิดศูนย์การเรียนรู้ทางด้านปิโตรเลียม

โครงการ “ศูนย์การเรียนรู้ทางด้านปิโตรเลียม” เป็นการดำเนินโครงการและสนับสนุนงบประมาณจากเชฟรอนเป็นจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 950,000 บาท โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างความรู้ความเข้าใจอันดีเกี่ยวกับการสำรวจและผลิตปิโตรเลียมในประเทศไทย โดยมีการนำเสนอข้อมูลตั้งแต่ที่มาของปิโตรเลียม แหล่งพลังงานทั้งบนฝั่งและนอกชายฝั่งรวมถึงพลังงานใต้พิภพ ผ่านภาพ โมเดลจำลอง อุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ประกอบการผลิตปิโตรเลียมจริง พร้อมด้วยสื่อที่ทันสมัย เพื่อเพิ่มความน่าสนใจให้กับการเรียนรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์และทำให้ผู้เข้าชมสามารถทำความเข้าใจได้ง่าย โดยจากการเปิดทดลองให้เข้าเยี่ยมชมในระยะเวลา 1 เดือน มีผู้เข้าใช้บริการเป็นจำนวนถึง 200 คนต่อวัน ทั้งนี้ การร่วมสนับสนุนโครงการดังกล่าว นับเป็นอีกหนึ่งภารกิจหลักของบริษัทฯ ในการดำเนินนโยบายทางด้านสังคมเพื่อสนับสนุนการศึกษาโดยเฉพาะในสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์
