ต่อมาในปี 1917 พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว โปรดเกล้าฯ ให้Mr.AA ย้ายมารับราชการที่กรมมหรสพ เมื่อวันที่ 1 กันยายน 1917 ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ช่วยปลัดกรมกองเครื่องสายฝรั่งหลวง ซึ่งรับหน้าที่ฝึกฝนนักดนตรีให้แก่วงดนตรีฝรั่งหลวงในราชสำนัก 1 เดือนต่อมาก็ได้รับพระราชทานสัญญาบัตร มีราชทินนามว่า “Luang Chen Duriyanga” เมื่อวันที่ 22 ตุลาคม 1917
