ต่อมาในปี 2012 ได้เปลี่ยนมาใช้คำว่า Flipped learning และเน้นการเรียนรู้ด้วยการการปฏิบัติในชั้นเรียน โดยนำ Active learning strategies เข้ามาใช้และเน้นกิจกรรมที่ผู้เรียนเป็นสำคัญมากขึ้น (Bergmann & Aaron, 2014a, 2014b) โดยมีการพัฒนารูปแบบและวิธีการที่หลากหลายกับผู้เรียนในระดับต่างๆ
