การศึกษาความหลากหลายพันธุ์ข้าวพื้นเมืองของชุมชนใน จังหวัดนครสวรรค์เพื่อการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาเชิงคุณค่าทางสังคมและเศรษฐกิจสู่ความยั่งยืน โดยมีวิธีศึกษาด้านต่างๆดังต่อไปนี้
1) ศึกษาข้อมูลทางเศรษฐกิจ สังคม วัฒนธรรมและภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับข้าวพันธุ์พื้นเมืองที่ปลูกในจังหวัดนครสวรรค์ พบว่า จังหวัดนครสวรรค์เป็นจังหวัดหนึ่งของภาคเหนือที่มีความสำคัญทางเศรษฐกิจของประเทศเป็นอู่ข้าวอู่น้ำของประเทศลักษณะภูมิประเทศส่วนใหญ่เป็นที่ราบ นครสวรรค เดิมชื่อวา ปากน้ำโพ มีประชากร จำนวน 1,072,192 คน มีมูลค่าผลผลิตของผลิตภัณฑ์มวลรวมของจังหวัด (GPP) ทั้งสิ้น 109,840 ล้านบาท มีอัตราเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจขยายตัวอยู่ร้อยละ 9.0 โดยประชาชนจังหวัดนครสวรรค์มีรายได้ เฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 111,168 บาทต่อปี พืชเศรษฐกิจที่นำรายได้มาสู่จังหวัด ได้แก่ ข้าว อ้อย ข้าวโพด และมันสำปะหลัง ด้านวัฒนธรรมวิถีชีวิตข้าวพื้นเมือง:ประเพณีข้าว ได้แก่ ประเพณีบุญบั้งไฟ ประเพณีแห่นางแมว ประเพณีแรกหว่าน (ไถ) ประเพณีทำขวัญแม่โพสพ หรือทำขวัญข้าว ประเพณีการลงแขกเกี่ยวข้าว ประเพณีเรียกขวัญข้าวเข้ายุ้ง และพิธีตักข้าว ด้านการตลาดข้าวพื้นเมืองนครสวรรค์ มี 2 ลักษณะคือ ตลาดข้าวเปลือก และตลาดข้าวสาร กลุ่มปลูกข้าวพื้นเมืองนครสวรรค์ พบว่า มี 6 กลุ่ม คือ กลุ่มเพื่อนช่วยเพื่อนทำนาอินทรีย์ คือ ข้าวขาวตาเคลือบ ข้าวหอมดง กลุ่มตำบลพนมรอก คือ ข้าวขาวอากาศ กลุ่มตำบลนาขอม คือ ข้าวสายพันธุ์ขาวกอเดียว และกลุ่มตำบลวังใหญ่ คือ ข้าวพวงชมพู และกลุ่มตำบลบางประมุง คือข้างตาแห้ง
2) ศึกษาลักษณะสัณฐานวิทยาของข้าวพันธุ์พื้นเมืองที่ปลูกในจังหวัดนครสวรรค์ จำนวน 12 สายพันธุ์ ประกอบด้วยข้าวเจ้า จำนวน 9 สายพันธุ์ ข้าวเหนียว 3 สายพันธุ์ ด้านเปอร์เซ็นต์การงอกพบว่าอยู่ในช่วงร้อยละ75 – 97 ด้านสีของใบ ข้าวทั้ง 11 สายพันธุ์มีสีเขียวเข้มยกเว้นข้าวเหนียวดำมีสีม่วงปนเขียว ด้านลักษณะของของข้าวเปลือก สีพบว่าทั้ง 10 สายพันธุ์มีสีฟางยกเว้นข้าวเจ้าแดงมีสีน้ำตาลแดงและข้าวเหนียวดำมีสีม่วงดำ น้ำหนักพบว่ายู่ในช่วง 2.59 – 3.35 กรัม ความยาวอยู่ในช่วง 0.70 -1.02 เซนติเมตร ความกว้าง พบว่าอยู่ในช่วง 0.02 - 0.03 เซนติเมตร ด้านลักษณะของข้าวสาร สีพบว่าทั้ง 8 สายพันธุ์มีสีขาวยกเว้นข้าวเจ้าแดง ข้าวหอมมันปูมีสีน้ำตาลแดงและข้าวเหนียวดำมีสีม่วงดำ น้ำหนักพบว่าอยู่ในช่วง 2.53 – 3.30 กรัม ความยาวอยู่ในช่วง 0.60 -1.01 เซนติเมตร ความกว้าง พบว่าอยู่ในช่วง 0.01 - 0.02 เซนติเมตร
