บทบาทของไทยในการสนับสนุนติมอร์-เลสเต เข้ามาเป็นสมาชิกอาเซียน
ประเทศไทยได้ยืนยันในการสนับสนุนให้ประเทศติมอร์-เลสเต เข้ามาเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสมาคมประชาชาติแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (ASEAN) เพื่อส่งเสริมประชาธิปไตยและสิทธิมนุษยชนจากประชาคมระหว่างประเทศ และแสดงความพร้อมที่จะสนับสนุนการพัฒนาของประเทศติมอร์-เลสเต ประกอบด้วย
๑) การแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ในการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคม เนื่องจากประเทศติมอร์-เลสเตอุดมไปด้วยทรัพยากรทางธรรมชาติแต่ยังคงต้องการการจัดการที่เหมาะสม
๒) การสนับสนุนสำหรับการพัฒนาทรัพยากรมนุษย์ในภาคเกษตรกรรม
๓) การส่งออกข้าวไปยังประเทศติมอร์-เลสเต และ
๔) การแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์ของประเทศไทยในด้านการเป็นศูนย์กลางการประมวลผลระดับภูมิภาค สำหรับการอพยพและบุคคลที่ตกเป็นเหยื่อของการค้ามนุษย์
