อุทยานแห่งชาติเวียงโกศัย มีพื้นที่ครอบคลุมอยู่ในท้องที่ของอำเภอลอง อำเภอวังชิ้น จังหวัดแพร่ และอำเภอเถิน อำเภอสบปราบ อำเภอแม่ทะ จังหวัดลำปาง มีเนื้อที่ทั้งสิ้น256,250 ไร่ ประกาศเป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ เมื่อวันที่ 9 ตุลาคม 2524 ลักษณะภูมิประเทศเป็นภูเขาสูงชันสลับซับซ้อน ปกคลุมด้วยป่าดงดิบเขา ป่าเบญจพรรณ และป่าเต็งรัง ตามยอดเขาสูงมีป่าสน และทุ่งหญ้า เป็นแหล่งกำเนิดของต้นน้ำ และลำห้วยหลายสาย เช่น แม่เกิ้ง แม่จอก แม่สิน มีสัตว์ป่าหลายชนิด เช่น หมูป่า ไก่ป่า หมี อีเห็น เสือโคร่ง เลียงผา และนกชนิดต่างๆ อุทยานฯ นี้อยู่ห่างจากตัวจังหวัดประมาณ 68 กิโลเมตร การเดินทาง ใช้ทางหลวงหมายเลข 101 จากตัวจังหวัด เมื่อเลยอำเภอเด่นชัยไป 10 กิโลเมตร แยกขวาเข้าสู่ทางหลวงหมายเลข 11 เส้นทางสายแพร่ - ลำปาง ไปอีกประมาณ 40 กิโลเมตร ถึงทางแยกเข้าอำเภอวังชิ้น เลี้ยวซ้ายไปอีกประมาณ 13 กิโลเมตร และเลี้ยวขวาไปที่ทำการอุทยานฯ อีกประมาณ 1.5 กิโลเมตร ถึงที่ทำการอุทยานฯ

สถานที่น่าสนใจภายในอุทยานฯ ได้แก่

น้ำตกแม่เกิ๋งหลวง และแม่เกิ๋งน้อย เป็นน้ำตกที่สวยงามไหลลดหลั่นลงมาเป็นชั้น ๆ คล้ายขั้นบันไดลงมาจากดอยแม่เกิ๋ง คำว่า แม่เกิ๋ง เป็นภาษาพื้นเมือง หมายถึง ขั้นบันได น้ำตกแม่เกิ๋งหลวง ห่างจากที่ทำการฯ ประมาณ 1 กิโลเมตร ส่วนน้ำตกแม่เกิ๋งน้อยต้องเดินเท้าจากที่ทำการฯ ไปประมาณ 2 กิโลเมตร น้ำตกทั้งสองสายนี้จะไหลลงสู่แม่น้ำยมที่บ้านสบเกิ๋ง อำเภอวังชิ้น นอกจากนี้ยังมีน้ำตกที่สวยงามอีกหลายแห่ง เช่น น้ำตกแม่สิน น้ำตกแม่จอก น้ำตกแม่ป้าก น้ำตกแม่รัง น้ำตกขุนห้วย เป็นต้น

การเดินทาง
