เนื้อรื่องย่อ พ่อมดมหัศจรรย์แห่งออซ   เป็นเรื่องราวของ โดโรธี เด็กหญิงตัวน้อยและสุนัขตัวน้อย ของเธอที่ถูกลมหอบไปจากบ้านที่แคนซัส ไปตกที่ออซดินแดนแสนมหัศจรรย์ โดโรธีอยากกลับบ้านมาก จึงเดินทางไปหาพ่อมดออซ เพื่อขอความช่วยเหลือ ระหว่างทางก็ได้พบกับ หุ่นไล่กา  ชายตัดไม้ และสิงโต  ทั้งสี่สหายออกเดินทางและร่วมผจญภัยไปด้วยกัน  เมื่อเดินทางไปจนถึงเมืองมรกตแล้วได้พบกับพ่อมดออซ   ทั้งสี่สหายก็รู้ว่าพ่อมดออซเป็นคนจอมปลอม เพราะเขาไม่สามารถช่วยเหลือทั้งสี่สหายได้ แต่สุดท้ายทั้งสี่สหายก็สมหวังในสิ่งที่ปรารถนา
