การศึกษาวิจัยในครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการคือ (1) เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบของการสื่อสารของนักการเมืองท้องถิ่น (2) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคของการสื่อสารนักการเมืองท้องถิ่น (3) และเสนอช่องทางหรือรูปแบบการสื่อสารที่มีประสิทธิภาพของนักการเมืองท้องถิ่นในอำเภอปากช่องจังหวัดนครราชสีมา ในการดำเนินการวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยการสังเคราะห์เอกสารและงานวิจัยการจัดการความรู้ภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นภาคอีสานตอนใต้ และการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพ โดยการการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก การสังเกต การสนทนากลุ่ม การสังเกตการณ์แบบไม่มีส่วนร่วม โดยศึกษาจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างนายกองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล14 คน และสัมภาษณ์ผู้นำชุมชน 14 คน ผลของการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า รูปแบบการสื่อสารของนักการเมืองท้องถิ่นสรุปได้ 3 รูปแบบคือ (1) การสื่อสารระหว่างบุคคลโดยการลงพื้นที่พบกับประชาชน (2) การสื่อสารมวลชน โดยการใช้สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ต่างๆ รถกระจายเสียงและ (3) การประชุมแบบเป็นทางการและไม่เป็นทางการ ด้านปัญหาและอุปสรรคที่เกิดขึ้นจากการสื่อสาร ได้แก่ เรื่องปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลของนักการเมืองท้องถิ่น การไม่เป็นที่รู้จักของประชาชน การแบ่งกลุ่มของประชาชนตามนักการเมืองที่ตนให้ความสนใจ การโจมตีกันโดยการแจกแผ่นพับ ใบปลิว การทำลายป้ายประชาสัมพันธ์ต่างๆ บริบทของชุมชนที่มีความห่างไกลกันทำให้การสื่อสารเข้าถึงได้ยาก ส่วนด้านช่องทางหรือรูปแบบการสื่อสารที่มีประสิทธิภาพ ได้แก่ หอกระจายข่าว เสียงตามสาย และวิทยุชุมชน รถกระจายเสียงตามหมู่บ้าน บอร์ดประชาสัมพันธ์ สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์ เช่น วารสาร แผ่นพับ ใบปลิว เทคโนโลยี ทวิตเตอร์ เฟสบุ๊ค และอื่นๆ เช่น จัดเวทีปราศรัย ซึ่งมีบางท่านอาจเลือกการใช้ช่องทางการสื่อสารที่แตกต่างกันออกไปบ้างขึ้นอยู่กับบริบทของแต่ละบุคคลด้านปัจจัยส่วนตัว ฐานะเศรษฐกิจและความเหมาะสมกับบริบทของชุมชนนั้นๆ รูปแบบการสื่อสารของนักการเมืองท้องถิ่นในอำเภอปากช่องจังหวัดนครราชสีมา ซึ่งการที่จะทำให้เกิดรูปแบบการสื่อสารระหว่างนักการเมืองท้องถิ่นกับประชาชนมีประสิทธิภาพยิ่งขึ้น โดยมีข้อเสนอแนะ คือ องค์การปกครองส่วนท้องถิ่นควรมีการจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อส่งเสริมความรู้ ความเข้าใจในการพิจารณาการเลือกใช้สื่อ การให้ความสำคัญในตัวสื่อ อีกทั้งควรจะจัดการฝึกอบรม สัมมนา การสร้างภาวะผู้นำ การสร้างจิตสำนึกและความรับผิดชอบในหน้าที่ทางการเมือง เพื่อพัฒนาบุคลิกภาพของผู้สมัครและชุมชนนั้นๆ ให้เกิดประสิทธิผลสูงสุด
