การศึกษาอิสระครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความหลากหลาย โครโมโซมของปลา สัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำบางชนิดที่พบในบริเวณแม่น้ำงิม พื้นที่โรงเรียนตำรวจตระเวนชายแดนเบ็ตตี้ดูเมน ตำบลผาช้างน้อย อำเภอปง จังหวัดพะเยา ระหว่างเดือนเมษายน 2558 – เดือนตุลาคม 2558 เก็บตัวอย่างปลา โดยวิธีทอดแห ลงอวน และลงข่าย และเก็บตัวอย่างสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำ โดยใช้วิธีการพบเห็นตัว (Encounter Visual Survey) จากการสำรวจพบปลาทั้งหมด 26 ชนิด 20 สกุล 11 วงศ์ และสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำทั้งหมด 14 ชนิด14 สกุล 7 วงศ์
ศึกษาดัชนีความมากชนิดของปลา โดยใช้วิธีของ Margalef index พบว่ามีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 3.35 ดัชนีความหลากหลายของชนิดปลาโดยใช้วิธีของ Shannon – Wiener’s Index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 0.95 และดัชนีความสม่ำเสมอหรือเท่าเทียม โดยใช้วิธีของ Pielous index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 0.32 ศึกษาดัชนีความมากชนิดของสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำ โดยใช้วิธีของ Margalef index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 2.32 และวิธี Simpson's index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 7.07 ดัชนีความหลากหลายชนิดของสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำ โดยใช้วิธีของ Shannon – Wiener’s Index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 0.77 และดัชนีความสม่ำเสมอหรือเท่าเทียม โดยใช้วิธีของ Pielous index มีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 0.36
ศึกษาโครโมโซมปลา และสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำ โดยวิธีทางตรง พบ โครโมโซมของ วงศ์ Cyprinidae มีจำนวน 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ ปลาจาดน้ำตก (Poropuntius laoensis) และปลามอน(Scaphiodonichthys acanthopterus) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=50 จากการศึกษาโครโมโซมของสัตว์ครึ่งบกครึ่งน้ำพบว่า วงศ์ Microhylidae พบ 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ อึ่งน้ำเต้า (Microhylafissipes) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=24 อึ่งอ่างบ้าน (Kaloula pulchra) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=28 และอึ่งข้างดำ (Microhyla hermonsi) 2n=22 วงศ์ Ranidae พบ 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ กบหนอง (Fejervarya limnocharis) กบหัวโต (Limnonectes macrognathus) และเขียดทราย (Occidozyga martensii) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=26 วงศ์ Diglossidae พบ 2 ชนิด ได้แก่ กบนา (Hoplobatrachus rugulosa) และกบอ่องเล็ก (Sylvirana nigrovittata) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=26 วงศ์ Ictthyophidae พบ 1 ชนิด ได้แก่เขียดงูเกาะเต่า (Ichthyophis kohtaoensis) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=36 วงศ์ Bufonidae พบ 1 ชนิด ได้แก่ คางคก (Duttaphrynus melanostictus) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=22 วงศ์ Rhacophoridae พบ 1 ชนิด ได้แก่ ปาด (Polypedates leucomystax) มีจำนวนโครโมโซมเท่ากับ 2n=26
