ศาลโลก มีชื่อเรียกอย่างเป็นทางการว่

ศาลโลก มีชื่อเรียกอย่างเป็นทางการว่า"ศาลยุติธรรมระหว่างประเทศ" (International Court of Justice : ICJ) ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2489 มีฐานะเป็นองค์กรหนึ่งขององค์การสหประชาชาติ (United Nations : UN) สำนักงานของศาลโลกตั้งอยู่ที่กรุงเฮก ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์
หลักของศาลโลกมี 2 ประการ คือ
1. ตัดสินคดีพิพาทระหว่างรัฐบาลของรัฐภาคีที่เป็นสมาชิกของ UN
2. วินิจฉัย ตีความ และให้คำปรึกษา ในประเด็นปัญหาข้อกฎหมายแก่องค์กรระหว่างประเทศที่ยอมรับอำนาจของศาลโลก
