เมื่อวันที่ 22 ส.ค. สำนักข่าวต่างประเทศรายงานว่า เมื่อเวลาราว 20.50 น. ตามเวลาท้องถิ่นของจีนได้เกิดเหตุโรงงานสารเคมีของ บริษัท รุนซิงคอมพานี ระเบิด ในเมืองหวนไท่ มณฑลซานตง ทางตะวันออกของประเทศจีน และมีรายงานว่ามีผู้บาดเจ็บจากเหตุระเบิด 9 คน
สำนักข่าวซินหัวของจีน รายงานด้วยว่า เสียงระเบิดสามารถได้ยินในบ้านเรือนที่ไกลออกไป 2 กิโลเมตรจากจุดเกิดเหตุ

ก่อนหน้านี้จีนเพิ่งประสบเหตุระเบิดที่โกดังเก็บสารเคมีในเมืองท่าเทียนจินเมื่อวันที่ 12 ส.ค. ที่ผ่านมา ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 121 ราย
