ปัญหาที่เกิดกับสตรีในสังคมไทยส่วนใหญ่สะท้อนเห็นถึงสภาพและความคิดของคนในสังคมไทยที่ยังคงมีความคิดว่าผู้ชายเป็นใหญ่ ซึ่งครอบงำสังคมไทยมาโดยตลอด แม้ว่าในปัจจุบันสภาปัญหาอาจดูเหมือนรุนแรงน้อยลง และมีโครงสร้างทางกฎหมายยอมรับในความเท่าเทียมกันของหญิงและชายเป็นหลักการพื้นฐานทางสังคม ตลอดจนมีการเปิดพื้นที่ให้ผู้หญิงเข้ามามีบทบาทในพื้นที่สาธารณะ เช่น ในองค์กรทางการเมืองระดับต่างๆมากขึ้นก็ตาม แต่ปัญหาและความรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นต่อสตรีก็ยังปรากฎให้เห็นมาโดยตลอด
ฉะนั้น แนวทางการแก้ไขปัญหาที่ดีที่สุด คือ การกระตุ้นให้คนในสังคมเรียนรู้หลักสิทธิมนุษยชนและเคารพในศักดิ์ศรีของสตรี ตระหนักถึงความซับซ้อนและความละเอียดอ่อนของผู้หญิง ตระหนักถึงความเสมอภาคและความเท่าเทียมกันในด้านการทำงาน ค่าจ้าง การประกันสังคม การตัดสินใจมีบุตร สิทธิในการพัฒนาทั้งการศึกษาและสันทนาการ รวมทั้งได้รับความเท่าเทียมในทางการเมือง และได้รับการพิจารณาในการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ราชการในทุกๆระดับ
นอกจากนี้ ภาครัฐควรมีนโยบายหรือมาตรการพิเศษที่จะช่วยเอื้อให้เกิดการคุ้มครองสิทธิสตรีอย่างจริงจรัง เช่น การจัดตั้งหน่วยงาน หรือองค์กรที่ทำหน้าที่คุ้มครองสิทธิสตรีและป้องกันการละเมิดสตรีขึ้นมาโดยเฉพาะ เป็นต้น
