Solomon’s Sins: The United Kingdom of Israel splits apart!
In addition to living in a very wealthy way that caused great financial hardship for his subjects, the people of Israel, Solomon also loved women !!
Solomon married hundreds of women and most came from DIFFERENT religious backgrounds.
Remember: the greatest commandment was the Sh’ma, the one that said Solomon and the Israelites should only worship Yahweh.
Instead, Solomon built many altars to the many gods of his foreign wives. The people who worshipped these gods had different values than the people of the God of Israel.
All of this caused a split in the country – a civil war between north and south!
Just like many countries in our own world now are divided: think of North and South Korea, North and South Vietnam. Is your country split from its original country? If so, why did it happen?
During this time Israel is no longer a United Kingdom after Solomon does this.
