การฟังเป็นทักษะแรกที่สําคัญของการเรียนรู้ทางภาษา ที่จะนําไปสู่การพัฒนาทักษะการพูด การอ่านและการเขียนต่อไป การพัฒนาทักษะการฟังโดยใช้สื่อวีดีโอนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ ช่วยให้ผู้เรียนได้ฟังเสียงสําเนียงที่แท้จริงของผู้เป็นเจ้าของภาษา สร้างความคุ้นเคยกับภาษาที่เป็นธรรมชาติ ซึ่งใช้สื่อสารในชีวิตประจําวัน ดังนั้นการศึกษาค้นคว้าครั้งนี้จึงมีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อใช้กระบวนการวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการพัฒนาทักษะการฟังของนักเรียนโดยใช้สื่อวีดีโอนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ นักเรียนที่ร่วมศึกษาค้นคว้า คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 จํานวนนักเรียน 20 คน นักเรียนชาย 9 คน นักเรียนหญิง 11 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาค้นคว้า คือ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้สื่อนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ จํานวน 3 แผน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพและปริมาณ โดยใช้วิธีการพรรณนาวิเคราะห์
ผลการศึกษาค้นคว้าพบว่า
วงรอบที่ 1 ผู้วิจัยได้ให้นักเรียนดูวีดีโอนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ เรื่อง Magic Fans มีกิจกรรมคือ วงกลมล้อมรอบคำศัพท์ เติมคำที่กำหนดให้ลงในช่องว่าง ตอบคำถามที่กำหนดให้ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนทุกคนตื่นเต้นสนุกสนานและให้ความสนใจในการดูนิทานภาษาอังกฤษเป็นอย่างมาก แต่ฟังคําศัพท์และประโยคในเรื่องไม่ทันและไม่รู้เรื่องเนื่องจากไม่คุ้นสําเนียง และการออกเสียงของเจ้าของภาษาในเรื่อง ซึ่งผู้วิจัยจึงนําไปเป็นปัญหาที่จะต้องแก้ไขในวงรอบต่อไป ผลคะแนนจากการทํากิจกรรมระดับการฟังของนักเรียน อยู่ในระดับพอใช้
วงรอบที่ 2 ผู้วิจัยได้ให้นักเรียนดูวีดีโอนิทานภาษาอังกฤษ เรื่อง Three Golden Plumbs มีกิจกรรมคือเลือกคำศัพท์ที่ได้ยินลงในช่องว่างที่กำหนดให้ถูกต้อง เรียงลำดับประโยคให้ถูกต้อง บอกว่าข้อความแต่ละประโยคว่าถูกหรือผิด ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนจะมีพัฒนาการในการฟังมากขึ้นและมีการเรียนรู้คำศัพท์ ฝึกออกเสียง มีความสามัคคีในกลุ่ม มีความซื่อสัตย์ และสร้างความสัมพันธ์ในกลุ่ม มีประโยคบางประโยคที่นักเรียนจับใจความไม่ได้ ทำให้บรรยากาศในห้องเรียนตึงเครียด ผู้วิจัยจึงนำปัญหาที่จะต้องแก้ไขไปปรับใช้ในวงรอบต่อไป ผลคะแนนจาการทำกิจกรรมระดับการฟังของนักเรียนอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง
