พิพิธภัณฑ์พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้า

พิพิธภัณฑ์พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว หรือ พระราชวังสนามจันทร์ ตั้งอยู่ในตัวเมืองนครปฐม ห่างจากองค์พระปฐมเจดีย์ไปทางทิศตะวันตกประมาณ 2 กิโลเมตร มีพื้นที่ประมาณ 888 ไร่ตามพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ตั้งแต่ยังทรงดำรงพระยศเป็น สมเด็จพระบรมโอรสาธิราชสยามมกุฎราชกุมาร เริ่มก่อสร้างในปี พ.ศ. 2450 มีหลวงพิทักษ์มานพ (น้อย ศิลปี) ซึ่งต่อมาเลื่อนยศเป็นพระยาศิลป์ประสิทธิ์ เป็นผู้ดำเนินการก่อสร้าง พระที่นั่งเมื่อแรกสร้างมีเพียง 2 พระที่นั่ง ได้แก่ พระที่นั่งพิมานปฐม และพระที่นั่งอภิรมย์ฤดี และพระราชทานนามตามประกาศลงวันที่ 27 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2454 และต่อมาได้ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ทำพิธียกพระมหาเศวตฉัตรขึ้นประดิษฐานเหนือพระแท่นรัตนสิงหาสน์ ภายในพระที่นั่งสามัคคีมุขมาตย์เมื่อวันที่ 7 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2466
