เกาเต่า เป็นเกาะที่มีชื่อเสียงไปทั่วโลก ถูกยกย่องให้เป็นสวรรค์ของนักดำน้ำเลยก็ว่าได้ เพียงแค่ลองไปสัมผัสกับเกาะเต่า ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโลกใต้ทะเลหรือชายหาดของเกาะเต่า จะทำให้ประทับใจไม่รู้ลืมจนต้องกลับมาครั้งแล้วครั้งเล่า
เกาะเต่า อยู่ในเขตของเกาะพะงัน จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี เป็นเกาะขนาดเล็กกลางอ่าวไทยมีลักษณะเหมือนเต่า ประกอบด้วยเกาะสำคัญ 2 เกาะ คือ เกาะเต่า และ เกาะนางยวน (เกาะนางยวนคือหางเต่า) พื้นที่ส่วนมากเป็นภูเขามีพื้นราบเพียงแค่ 30% ของเกาะ มีชายหาดที่มีความสวยงามทรายสะอาดบริสุทธิ์ สลับกับโขดหินรูปทรงแปลกตาจนทำให้ใครหลายๆคนเรียกที่นี่ว่าเกาะสวาทหาดสวรรค์
เหตุที่เรียกเกาะนี้ว่าเกาะเต่าก็เพราะว่า ในสมัยก่อนเป็นที่วางไข่ของเต่าเป็นจำนวนมาก จึงเป็นที่มาของชื่อ "เกาะเต่า" นั่นเอง

ใช้เส้นทาง ถนนพระราม 2 หรือ ธนบุรี ปากท่อ มุ่งหน้าสู่สมุทรสาคร สมุทรสงคราม แล้วเลี้ยวซ้ายไปทางถนนเพชรเกษม ผ่านเพชรบุรี มุ่งหน้าสู่ชุมพร หรือถ้าจะไปขึ้นเรือที่สุราษฎร์ธานี จากชุมพรให้ใช้ทางหลวงหมายเลข 41 ไปทางหลังสวน ผ่านอำเภอไชยา และมุ่งหน้าสู่สุราษฎร์ธานี ระยะทางประมาณ 685 กิโลเมตร ใช้เวลาประมาณ 7 ชั่วโมง

เมื่อเดินทางมาเที่ยวเกาะเต่าก็ไม่ควรพลาดจุดชมวิวจอห์น - สุวรรณ อยู่ที่เนินเขาอ่าวโฉลก บ้านเก่าที่มองลงมาแล้วจะเห็นหาดเป็นวงโค้งของอ่าวโฉลกบ้านเก่า และอ่าวเทียนออก
• จุดชมวิวบานาร็อก
บนเกาะเต่าไม่ว่ามองมุมไหนก็ดูสวยไปหมด จึงไม่แปลกที่จะมีจุดชมวิวหลายจุด จุดชมวิวบานาร็อกอยู่บนภูเขาด้านหลังของอ่าวโฉลกบ้านเก่า สูงประมาณ 300 เมตร สามารถขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์หรือเดินขึ้นไปได้สบายๆค่ะ เมื่อขึ้นไปแล้วจะเห็นท้องทะเลสีฟ้าคราม และยังมองเห็นเกาะพงันอีกด้วย

เป็นกลุ่มหินรูปทรงแปลกตาที่ตั้งอยู่ที่หาดทรายรี เป็นสถานที่ประวัติศาสตร์ที่ครั้งหนึ่ง รัชกาลที่ 5 ได้เสด็จประภาสเกาะเต่าจึงมีการจารึก พระปรมาภิไธย จปร. ที่โขนหิน ปรากฎให้เห็นอยู่จนทุกวันนี้
• ขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์ หรือ ATV ทัวร์รอบเกาะ
