สภาพทั่วไปของเกษตรกรผู้เลี้ยงโคนมที่เข้าร่วมโครงการ
จากตัวแทนเกษตรกรจำนวน 10 ราย ซึ่งเลี้ยงโคนมเป็นอาชีพหลัก เกษตรกรมีอายุเฉลี่ย 37.6 ปี ส่วนใหญ่ร้อยละ 60 จบการศึกษาชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 6 มีขนาดครอบครัวเฉลี่ย 4.7 คน แต่ละครอบครัวมีแรงงานเลี้ยงโคนมเฉลี่ย 2 คน มีพื้นที่ถือครองค่อนข้างน้อยเฉลี่ยครอบครัวละ 7 ไร่ เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่มีประสบการณ์เลี้ยงโคนมเฉลี่ย 12.8 ปี ซึ่งเกษตรกรทุกรายได้รับความรู้จากการเลี้ยงโคนมโดยผ่านการฝึกอบรมการเลี้ยงโคนมจากวิทยาลัยเกษตรและเทคโนโลยีเพชรบุรี (ตารางผนวกที่ 1 )
เกษตรกรที่เข้าร่วมโครงการทั้ง 10 ราย เลี้ยงโคนมพันธุ์โฮล์สไตน์ฟรีเซียน เฉลี่ย 23.2 ตัวส่วนใหญ่ร้อยละ 40 มีจำนวนโคนมอยู่ระหว่าง 16 – 20 ตัว มีจำนวนแม่โครีดนมเฉลี่ย 13.7 ตัว มีแม่โครีดนมมากกว่า 15 ตัวเพียง 20 เปอร์เซ็นต์ เกษตรกรมีพื้นที่ปลูกพืชอาหารสัตว์เฉลี่ย 3.3 ไร่ ซึ่งเกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ร้อยละ 60 มีพื้นที่ปลูกพืชอาหารสัตว์อยู่ระหว่าง 1 – 3 ไร่ เกษตรกรส่วนใหญ่ร้อยละ 70 นิยมใช้อาหารข้นซึ่งมีโปรตีน 21 เปอร์เซ็นต์ ใช้เลี้ยงโคนมทั้งนี้เนื่องมาจากอาหารหยาบที่ใช้มีคุณภาพต่ำ ส่วนปริมาณอาหารข้นที่ให้เกษตรกรร้อยละ 40 มีการกำหนดปริมาณที่ให้ตามปริมาณน้ำนมที่รีดได้ 3 กิโลกรัม ต่ออาหารข้น 1 กิโลกรัม แม่โคนมให้น้ำนมเฉลี่ย 14.35 กิโลกรัมต่อตัวต่อวัน ส่วนใหญ่ร้อยละ 60 ให้น้ำนมอยู่ระหว่าง 12.0 - 14.5 กิโลกรัมต่อตัว การเลี้ยงโคนมของเกษตรกรทั้ง 10 ราย มีการเสริมแร่ธาตุชนิดก้อนโดยแขวนไว้ให้โคเลือกกินตลอดเวลา ด้านการผสมพันธุ์เกษตรกรจะใช้วิธีการผสมเทียม (ตารางผนวกที่ 2)
