ต่อมาชำรุดทรุดโทรม ครูธรรมวงศ์วิวัฒน์จึงได้มีหนังสือขออนุญาตกรมศิลปากรเพื่อซ่อมแซมบูรณปฏิสังขรณ์ เมื่อได้รับอนุญาตจึงเริ่มดำเนินการเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2495 การปฏิสังขรณ์ได้เสร็จและสมโภชเมื่อวันที่ 6 เมษายน พ.ศ.2497
