ประวัติสโมสร[แก้]
สโมสรฟุตบอลบุรีรัมย์ ยูไนเต็ด เดิมชื่อ สโมสรฟุตบอลบุรีรัมย์ พีอีเอ เป็นสโมสรที่เปลี่ยนแปลงมาจากสโมสรฟุตบอลการไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาค ได้ก่อตั้งขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2513 โดยดร.วีระ ปิตรชาติ มีเป้าหมายเพื่อให้พนักงานการไฟฟ้าส่วนภูมิภาคได้ออกกำลังกายและสร้างความสามัคคีร่วมกันในหมู่คณะ

ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. 2535 สโมสรได้เข้าร่วมการแข่งขันอย่างเป็นทางการเป็นครั้งแรกในฟุตบอลชิงถ้วยพระราชทาน ประเภท ง. โดยลงเล่น 3 ฤดูกาลก็ได้เลื่อนขึ้นไปเล่นในถ้วย ค. และลงเล่นอยู่ 2 ฤดูกาลก็ได้เลื่อนขึ้นไปเล่นถ้วย ข. และอีก 2 ฤดูกาลสโมสรก็สามารถเลื่อนชั้นขึ้นไปเล่นในดิวิชั่น 1ได้สำเร็จ

หลังจากลงเล่นในดิวิชั่น 1อยู่นานสโมสรก็ได้เลื่อนขึ้นมาเล่นในลีกสูงสุดได้สำเร็จเป็นครั้งแรก เมื่อได้รองแชมป์ดิวิชั่น 1 ฤดูกาล 2547 และได้เล่นในไทยแลนด์พรีเมียร์ลีกเป็นครั้งแรกในฤดูกาล 2548 โดยฤดูกาลแรกในลีกสูงสุดสโมสรสร้างผลงานได้อย่างยอดเยี่ยม เมื่อได้ตำแหน่งรองแชมป์ และศุภกิจ จินะใจ กองหน้าของทีมก็คว้าตำแหน่งดาวซัลโวร่วมกับศรายุทธ ชัยคำดี กองหน้าของทีมการท่าเรือไทย ที่จำนวน 10 ประตู และยังได้เล่นเอเอฟซี แชมเปียนส์ลีก เป็นครั้งแรกในฤดูกาล 2549 อีกด้วย

ฤดูกาล 2551 สโมสรสามารถคว้าแชมป์ไทยแลนด์พรีเมียร์ลีก ได้เป็นครั้งแรกภายใต้การคุมทีมของประพล พงษ์พาณิชย์และได้สิทธิเข้าร่วมแข่งขันเอเอฟซี แชมเปียนส์ลีก รอบคัดเลือก ในฤดูกาล 2552

ฤดูกาล 2552 สโมสรตกรอบคัดเลือกเอเอฟซี แชมเปียนส์ลีก ทำให้ไม่สามารถเข้าไปเล่นในรอบแบ่งกลุ่มได้ และมีผลงานในลีกไม่ดีนัก สโมสรจึงได้เปลี่ยนผู้จัดการทีมในเดือนพฤษภาคม ปี 2552 จากประพล พงษ์พาณิชย์ เป็นทองสุข สัมปหังสิต อดีตผู้จัดการทีมชาติไทย ชุดแชมป์ซีเกมส์ ที่นครราชสีมา
