Fans of Chiang Mai Zoo's giant panda Lin Hui are growing excited as she is due to give birth any time now.

Veterinarian Dr Boripat Siriaroonrat, a senior official at the Zoological Park Organisation under the Royal Patronage of HM The King, said Lin Hui had shown signs that she is about to give birth - such as a falling level of the hormone progesterone - but had not yet gone into labour.

Chulalongkorn University's veterinary team was preparing to conduct an ultrasound test yesterday evening or today to get a clearer view of the embryo and monitor its heartbeat.
