บางมะเขือ" เป็นชุมชนที่อยู่ถัดจากชุ

บางมะเขือ" เป็นชุมชนที่อยู่ถัดจากชุมชนบ้านสามอิน ค่อนไปทางพระโขนง ในสมัยก่อนคงมีต้นมะเขือขึ้นอยู่มาก จึงเรียกว่า บางมะเขือ มีคลองบางมะเขือเป็นคลองซอยจากคลองใหญ่ (คลองพระโขนง) เป็นเส้นทางคมนาคมทางน้ำในอดีต

บรรพชนมุสลิมในบ้านบางมะเขือนั้น ว่ากันว่า อพยพมาจากเมืองกลันตันในแหลมมลายู เป็นกลุ่มเครือญาติเดียวกันกับพี่น้องที่ตั้งรกรากในชุมชนบ้านป่า และในละแวกใกล้เคียง (วารสาร มุสลิม กทม. ประจำเดือนพฤษภาคม 2548)

บรรพชนที่อพยพมาจากเมืองกลันตัน ได้ถูกเคลื่อนย้ายเข้ามาในพระนครเมื่อครั้งรัชกาลที่ 3 แห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ ถูกกวาดต้อนเข้ามาพร้อมๆ กับชาวตรังกานู กะดะห์-เคดาห์ (ไทรบุรี) ปะลิส และปัตตานี (อ้างแล้ว)



เรื่องครัวเรือนที่ถูกต้อนมาจากเมืองกลันตันนี้ มีเรื่องน่าสงสัยอยู่หลายประเด็น ดังนี้

2. ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 3 ปี พ.ศ. 2381 สยามส่งกองทัพลงไปปราบหัวเมืองมลายูปัตตานีอีกครั้ง จดหมายหลวงอุดมสมบัติ ฉบับที่ 9 บันทึกไว้ว่า “...ทรงตรัสถามว่า ครัวซึ่งเอาเข้าไปนั้นเป็นคนที่ไหน เจ้าคุณหาบนกราบทูลว่า เป็นคนเมืองจะนะบ้าง เมืองเทพาบ้าง เมืองตานีบ้าง ว่าเป็นเป็นคนเมืองไทรบ้างก็ดี...” ในจดหมายหลวงอุดมสมบัติ ฉบับที่ 14 บันทึกไว้ว่า “แล้วรับสั่งว่า...ครัวที่ส่งเข้าไปเป็นครัวอะไรอยู่ที่ไหน เจ้าคุณหาบนกราบทูลว่า เป็นครัวเมืองไทรบ้าง เมืองจะนะบ้าง เมืองเทพาบ้างเมืองราห์มันบ้าง เมืองสตูลบ้าง ว่าเป็นพวกเข้าด้วยขบถ...” การสงครามกับหัวเมืองมลายูปัตตานีในสองรัชกาลนั้น ไม่น่าปรากฏว่ามีเชลยศึกจากเมืองกลันตันหรือตรังกานูแต่อย่างใด



3. มีข้อความระบุไว้ใน “ประวัติศาสตร์กรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ รัชกาลที่ 1-3 (กองจดหมายเหตุแห่งชาติ 2525) ว่า “...พระยาไทรได้ทราบว่าไทยตีได้เมืองปัตตานี ก็มีความเกรงกลัว รีบแต่งทูตให้คุมต้นไม้ทองเงินเข้ามาถวายยอมเป็นข้าขอบขัณฑสีมาเหมือนแต่ก่อน ฝ่ายพระยาตรังกานู และพระยากลันตัน ที่ขึ้นอยู่แก่เมืองตรังกานู เขตแดนอยู่ต่อเมืองปัตตานีลงไปข้างใต้ทั้ง 2 เมืองนี้ แต่ก่อนหาเคยได้ขึ้นแก่ไทยไม่ ครั้นทราบว่า ไทยตีได้เมืองปัตตานี เกรงจะเลยลงไปตีเมืองกลันตัน ตรังกานูด้วย ก็แต่งทูตให้คุมต้นไม้ทองเงินขึ้นมาถวายกรมพระราชวังบวรฯ ขอสวามิภักดิ์ เป็นข้าขอบขัณฑสีมากรุงเทพฯ ด้วยทั้งสองเมือง”



ตามข้อความที่ระบุนี้ เมืองกลันตันกับเมืองตรังกานู ยอมส่งเครื่องบรรณาการให้กับไทยเพื่อต้องการจะแสดงความเป็นมิตรต่อกันเท่านั้นเอง จะถือว่าตกเป็นประเทศราชของไทยด้วยหรือไม่ ก็ยังมีข้อถกเถียงกันอยู่ (ดูประชุมพงศาวดาร ภาคที่ 3 หน้า 2, 43) และเมืองกลันตันกับเมืองตรังกานูนั้นเป็นเมืองที่อยู่ห่างไกลกรุงเทพฯ มากกว่าเมืองปัตตานีและไทรบุรี ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยกับเมืองกลันตัน และตรังกานู จึงมีน้อยกว่าเมืองปัตตานี และไทรบุรี ทั้งๆ ที่เมืองทั้งสองก็เป็นเมืองประเทศราชเช่นกัน



เมืองกลันตันนี้อยู่ในอำนาจการกำกับบังคับบัญชาของเมืองนครศรีธรรมราช (ประวัติหัวเมืองชายทะเลฝั่งตะวันตก เอกสารกระทรวงมหาดไทย) ส่วนเมืองตรังกานูนั้นเป็นเมืองใหญ่ มีเมืองกลันตันเป็นเมืองขึ้นมาก่อน ในสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลก พระยากลันตันขอแยกเมืองจากตรังกานู เมืองตรังกานูจึงแยกจากกลันตัน โดยตรังกานูอยู่ในความดูแลของเมืองสงขลา (Encyclopaedia Britannica p. 722) การกวาดต้อนเชลยศึกจากเมืองกลันตัน และตรังกานูในยุครัตนโกสินทร์นั้นจึงไม่น่าเกิดขึ้นในประวัติศาสตร์



แม้ในจดหมายหลวงอุดมสมบัติ ฉบับที่ 15 ซึ่งมีข้อความระบุว่า “...ได้ความว่า พระยา กลันตันแต่งเรือวาดเขียนอยู่ 10 ลำ (เข้าใจว่าเรือกอและ) ว่าจะขึ้นมาที่สงขลา ณวันเดือน 8 ทุติยาสาฒ แรม 6 ค่ำ แต่ตนกูปสานั้น ว่าจะขึ้นมาวันแรม 3 ค่ำก่อนพระยากลันตัน... รับสั่งว่า ขึ้นมาจะได้รับจัดแจงการเมืองไทร เมืองกลันตันเสียให้แล้ว...” ก็มิได้พูดชัดเจนว่า สยามส่งกองทัพลงไปตีถึงเมืองกลันตัน จึงจะได้กวาดต้อนครอบครัวชาวกลันตันขึ้นมายังกรุงเทพฯ แต่น่าจะมุ่งหมายถึง การขันอาสาของพระยากลันตันในการแต่งเรือวาดเขียนเพื่อลำเลียงเชลยศึกจากหัวเมืองมลายูปัตตานีขึ้นมาที่เมืองสงขลา ซึ่งเป็นเรื่องธรรมดาของเจ้าผู้ครองหัวเมืองประเทศราชพึงกระทำ เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงความจงรักภักดีต่อสยาม

มีสมมติฐานเกี่ยวกับเรื่องนี้ ดังนี้
