ตลาดน้ำไทรน้อยเริ่มเปิดดำเนินกิจกรรมที่บริเวณริมเขื่อนหน้าเทศบาลตำบลไทรน้อย โดยดำเนินกิจกรรมอยู่เป็นเวลา 3 ปี
จึงได้ย้ายมาเปิดที่บริเวณริมคลองพระพิมลราชา วัดไทรใหญ่ เมื่อวันที่ 14 กรกฎาคม 2545 โดยวัดไทรใหญ่สร้างขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ.2410
มีอาณาเขต จำนวน 20 ไร่ เดิมชื่อวัดมหานิโครธาราม ซึ่งแปลว่า "ไทร" ต่อมาเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น "วัดไทรใหญ่" เมื่อพ.ศ.2498 ภายใน
อุโบสถมีภาพจิตรกรรมเรื่องพระเจ้าสิบชาติ ปูชนียวัตถุที่สำคัญของวัดคือ "หลวงพ่อทองคำ" ซึ่งเป็นที่เคารพสักการะของชาวบ้าน
และประชาชนทั่วไป อาชีพหลักของชาวตลาดน้ำไทรน้อย คือการทำนา ทำสวน ปลูกผัก ผลไม้ โดยเกษตรกรไทรน้อยได้มีการรวม
