การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ (Survey Research) โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างคุณลักษณะอันพึงประสงค์ของผู้บริหารกับประสิทธิผลการดำเนินงานวิชาการของโรงเรียนประถมในอำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ สังกัดสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษาเชียงใหม่เขต 6 โดยจำแนกตามเพศ อายุ สถานภาพ วุฒิการศึกษา และประสบการณ์ทางการสอนเพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์กับคุณลักษณะอันพึงประสงค์ของผู้บริหาร 4 ด้านกับประสิทธิผลการทำงานวิชาการ ทั้ง17 ด้านประชากรที่ใช้ในการศึกษาค้นคว้าได้แก่ ครูที่ปฏิบัติหน้าที่สอนในอำเภอแม่แจ่ม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ สังกัดสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาประถมศึกษา เชียงใหม่เขต 6 จำนวน 217 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ศึกษาเป็นแบบสอบถาม การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป สถิติที่ใช้ได้แก่ การหาความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์
