จังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน ร่วมกับ เทศบาลเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน จัดงานประเพณีหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊ประจำปี 2557 เพื่อสืบสานประเพณีดีงามให้คงอยู่และเป็นที่รู้จักแก่นักท่องเที่ยวให้มากขึ้น
เมื่อวันที่ผ่านมา นายสุรพล พนัสอำพล ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน เป็นประธานเปิดงานประเพณีหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊ ประจำปี 2557 ณ เวทีกลางบริเวณสวนสาธารณะหนองจองคำ ซึ่งในปีนี้ได้จัดขึ้นอย่างยิ่งใหญ่ ระหว่างวันที่ 12-13 กุมภาพันธ์ โดยมีกิจกรรมกวนข้าวหย่ากู๊ มีการแสดงของชุมชน การแสดงของเด็กเยาวชน การแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรมไทใหญ่ เช่น รำกลองมองเซิง กลองก้นยาว และการแสดงศิลปะของพม่า โดยได้รับความสนใจจากประชาชนเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมเป็นจำนวนมาก
นายปกรณ์ จีนาคำ นายกเทศมนตรีเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน กล่าวว่า ปีนี้เทศบาลเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน จัดงานประเพณีหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊อย่างยิ่งใหญ่ ร่วมกัน 8 ชุมชน คือ 1.ชุมชนกาดเก่า 2.ชุมชนหนองจองคำ 3.ชุมชนกลางเวียง 4.ชุมชนตะวันออก 5.ชุมชนดอนเจดีย์ 6.ชุมชนปางล้อ 7.โรงเรียนเทศบาลเมืองแม่ฮ่องสอน และ8.ชุมชนบ้านท่าโป่งแดง ทั้งนี้เพื่อร่วมกันอนุรักษ์ ประเพณีท้องถิ่น ของชาวไทใหญ่เอาไว้ นอกจากนี้ ยังเป็นการสร้างความสมัครสมานสามัคคี ของคนในแต่ละชุมชนอีกด้วย
ประเพณีการหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊ เป็นประเพณีหนึ่งที่จัดขึ้นทุกปี และเป็นประเพณีที่มีความผูกพันกับชาวบ้านผู้ทำการเกษตรมาช้านาน ถือว่าเป็นประเพณีของชาวไทใหญ่จัดขึ้นและสืบทอดแก่ลูกหลานสืบมา โดยมีความเชื่อว่าหลังจากทำนาหรือหลังจากเกี่ยวข้าวเสร็จต้องมีการระลึกถึงบุญคุณของข้าว (พระแม่โพสพ) ที่ได้คุ้มครองไร่นาหรือให้ชาวนามีข้าวไว้หล่อเลี้ยงชีวิต และเมื่อได้ข้าวมาก็จะนำไปถวายวัดเพื่อเป็นศิริมงคล และข้าวนั้นต้องเป็นข้าวใหม่ ในวัน “เหลินสาม” หรือเดือนสามซึ่งตรงกับเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ของทุกปีชาวไทใหญ่จึงประเพณีถวายข้าวหย่ากู้สืบต่อกันมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
ความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับประเพณีการทำข้าวหย่ากู๊ เมื่อ ถึงเดือน 3 หรือ เดือนกุมภาพันธ์ บรรดาพุทธบริษัทชาวไทใหญ่ทั้งหลายจะนิยมทำบุญหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊ หรือถวายข้าวเหนียวแดง เพราะเชื่อกันว่าการหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊นี้จะได้บุญกุศลทำให้ได้ไปจุติบนสวรรค์ เสวยผลบุญอย่างเป็นสุข เช่นเดียวกับนางสุชาดา ซึ่งนิยมทำติดต่อกัน 3 ปี เป็นประเพณีที่ทำกันสืบทอดกันมาตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบันการจัดงานประเพณี “ปอยหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊” (หลู่ หมายถึง ถวายหรือให้ทาน) หรือการถวาย ข้าวเหนียวแดง คือ กิจกรรมประเพณีที่เกิดขึ้นหลังจากที่ชาวบ้านได้เก็บเกี่ยวผลผลิตจาก การทำไร่ทำนา และได้ผลผลิต หรือเรียกว่า ได้ข้าวใหม่ ก็จะเอาข้าวใหม่นี้ไปทำบุญในรูปข้าวหย่ากู๊
ในการหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊ นั้นชาวบ้านจะแบ่งส่วนหนึ่งไปถวายพระภิกษุ สามเณร และส่วนที่เหลือทั้งหมดจะนำไปตาน (ให้ทาน ) คนเฒ่าคนแก่ที่บุคคลนั้นๆ ให้ความเคารพนับถือหรือ แจกเป็นทานในหมู่บ้านหรือตามบ้านญาติสนิทมิตรสหาย เพราะเชื่อกันว่าการหลู่ข้าวหย่ากู๊มีนี้จะได้บุญกุศล ซึ่งนิยมทำมานานมากแล้ว บางแห่งจะรวมตัวกันจัดงาน ในสมัยก่อนมีการแห่ขบวนข้าวหย่ากู๊ โดยใช้เกวียนบรรทุกข้าวหย่ากู๊แห่ไปทั่วหมู่บ้าน ซึ่งเกวียนจะประดับตกแต่งขบวนอย่างสวยงาม มีการละเล่นดนตรีพื้นบ้านและการฟ้อนรำเพื่อเพิ่มความสนุกสนานแต่ปัจจุบันนิยมใช้รถยนต์บรรทุก 4 ล้อแทนเกวียนในการให้ทานข้าวหย่ากู๊แทน
