ศูนย์บริการเทคโนโลยีเภสัชอุตสาหกรรม คณะเภสัชศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ได้เริ่มจัดตั้งขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2531 โดยความร่วมมือระหว่าง สมาคมไทยอุตสาหกรรมผลิตยาแผนปัจจุบัน และสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย ได้เสนอโครงการขอรับการส่งเสริมในการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตยาในประเทศ ต่อ UNIDO แห่งองค์การสหประชาชาติ เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานการผลิตและควบคุมคุณภาพเภสัชผลิตภัณฑ์ให้สามารถแข่งขันในตลาดสากลได้
