เขาวัง – อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์พระนครคีรี เขาวัง คือชื่อที่ชาวเพชรบุรีและคนทั่วไปเรียกขานเขาสามยอดที่ตั้งอยู่บริเวณทางแยกเข้าเมืองเพชรบุรี เป็นการเรียกเนื่องจากบนภูเขาลูกนี้เป็นที่ตั้งของพระราชวังซึ่งพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 4 โปรดให้สร้างขึ้น และตั้งชื่อพระราชวังแห่งนี้ว่า “พระนครคีรี” เดิมทีเขาลูกนี้ชื่อว่าเขาสมน(สะ-หมน) หรือสมณ เมื่อสร้างพระนครคีรีเสร็จแล้วได้พระราชทานนามใหม่ว่า “เขามหาสวรรค์” โดยมีเจ้าพระยาศรีสุริยวงศ์ (ช่วง บุนนาค) เป็นแม่กองในการก่อสร้าง เริ่มดำเนินการก่อสร้างในปี 2402 และเสร็จสมบูรณ์เมื่อวนที่ 12 พฤษภาคม 2405
