ชิงเปรต" เป็นประเพณีของภาคใต้ที่กระทำกันในวันสารท เดือน ๑๐ เป็นประเพณีสำคัญที่จัดขึ้นเพื่อทำบุญอุทิศแก่บรรพบุรุษผู้ล่วงลับไปแล้ว การชิงเปรตเป็นการอุทิศส่วนกุศลไปให้ทั้งผี(เปรต) ที่เป็นญาติพี่น้องของตนเอง และที่ไม่มีญาติด้วย
