- ปี 2555 กรมฯ ได้ยกร่างพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายการค้า (ฉบับที่...) พ.ศ......เพื่อแก้ไขพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายการค้าฉบับปัจจุบัน โดยคณะรัฐมนตรีได้เห็นชอบในหลักการของร่างพระราชบัญญัติดังกล่าวในวันที่ 11 กันยายน 2555 และส่งมอบให้คณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกาตรวจพิจารณา ซึ่งคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกา (คณะพิเศษ) ได้ประชุมเพื่อพิจารณาร่างพระราชบัญญัติและได้มอบหมายฝ่ายเลขานุการฯ ปรับปรุงแก้ไขบทบัญญัติร่วมกับกรมทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาก่อนคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกา (คณะพิเศษ) จะพิจารณาร่างพระราชบัญญัติฯในครั้งต่อไป ทั้งนี้ กรมฯ ได้ดำเนินการตามกระบวนการตามมาตรา 190 ตามรัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย โดยรัฐสภาได้เห็นชอบการเข้าเป็นภาคีพิธีสารมาดริดของประเทศไทยแล้ว เมื่อวันที่ 16 ตุลาคม 2555
นอกจากนี้ กรมฯ ได้ประสานความร่วมมือกับสำนักงานเลขาธิการอาเซียน ในการเชิญ ผู้เชี่ยวชาญจาก WIPO และผู้แทนสำนักงานทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาของประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนร่วมประชุม หารือและแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น พร้อมเล่าประสบการณ์ในการเตรียมการเข้าเป็นภาคีพิธีสารมาดริดของประเทศที่
เป็นภาคีพิธีสารมาดริดแล้ว ได้แก่ เวียดนาม และฟิลิปปินส์ ให้กับเจ้าหน้าที่ของกรมฯที่เกี่ยวข้อง ในด้านการการพัฒนาบุคลากร กรมฯได้ส่งเจ้าหน้าที่ไปศึกษาดูงานระบบพิธีสารมาดริด ณ ประเทศญี่ปุ่น และประเทศฟิลิปปินส์
- ปี 2556 กรมฯ ได้จัดจ้างพัฒนาระบบเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศเพื่อเชื่อมโยงระบบจดทะเบียนกับองค์การทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาโลก พร้อมจัดซื้อวัสดุอุปกรณ์ฮาร์ดแวร์เพื่อใช้ในการปฏิบัติงานจดทะเบียนระหว่างประเทศและเชื่อมโยงกับระบบจดทะเบียนเครื่องหมายการค้าไร้กระดาษ ในด้านองค์กร กรมฯ ได้ตั้งกลุ่มงานใหม่เพิ่มขึ้นมา เพื่อรองรับการปฏิบัติงานด้านการจดทะเบียนเครื่องหมายการค้าภายใต้พิธีสารมาดริด ซึ่งองค์กรต่างๆ ได้แก่ องค์การทรัพย์สินทางปัญญาโลก และ OHIM ได้ส่งผู้เชี่ยวชาญมาบรรยายให้ความรู้ แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น และให้คำแนะนำในการดำเนินการเข้าเป็นภาคีพิธีสารมาดริด รวมทั้งการปฏิบัติงานการจดทะเบียนของเจ้าหน้าที่ด้วย
สำหรับความคืบหน้าในการแก้ไขปรับปรุงร่างพระราชบัญญัติเครื่องหมายการค้าฯ อยู่ระหว่างการพิจารณาของคณะกรรมการกฤษฎีกา คาดว่าภายในเดือนกันยายน 2556 จะสามารถเสนอร่างดังกล่าวเข้าสู่การพิจารณาของรัฐสภา เพื่อเข้าสู่กระบวนการพิจารณาและชี้แจงต่อสภาผู้แทนราษฎร และวุฒิสภา ให้ความเห็นชอบในการผ่านร่างพระราชบัญญัติฉบับนี้ต่อไป
