เสาดินนาน้อย เป็นเสาดินที่มีลักษณะแปลกตาคล้าย “แพะเมืองผี” ของจังหวัดแพร่ จากหลักฐานทางธรณีวิทยา พบว่าเสาดินนาน้อยเกิดจากการเคลื่อนตัวของเปลือกโลกในยุคเทอร์เชียรีตอนปลาย (late tertian) ประกอบกับการกัดเซาะของน้ำและลมตามธรรมชาติ นักธรณีวิทยาสันนิษฐานว่ามีอายุประมาณ 10,000-30,000 ปีมาแล้ว เคยเป็นก้นทะเลมาก่อน และจากหลักฐานการค้นพบกำไลหินและขวานโบราณที่นี่ (ปัจจุบันเก็บรักษาอยู่ที่พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ น่าน) แสดงให้เห็นว่าบริเวณนี้อาจเคยเป็นแหล่งอาศัยของมนุษย์ยุคหินเก่าในอดีต
