งานวิจัยสาเหตุที่มีผลต่อความเครียดในผู้สูงอายุโรคความดันโลหิตสูง มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อสำรวจรวบรวมข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับระดับความเครียดและหาปัจจัยของผู้สูงอายุโรคความดันโลหิตสูงกับความเครียด เพื่อหาสาเหตุที่ก่อให้เกิดความเครียด และผลของความเครียดโดยมีสาเหตุที่สัมพันธ์กับปัจจัย 5 ด้าน คือ สาเหตุจากด้านเศรษฐกิจ สาเหตุจากด้านครอบครัว สาเหตุจากด้านร่างกาย สาเหตุจากด้านจิตใจ ของผู้สูงอายุที่ป่วยเป็นโรคความดันโลหิตสูง มีประชากรกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการศึกษา คือ กลุ่มผู้สูงอายุที่ป่วยเป็นโรคความดันโลหิตสูง โดยมีกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 102 คน โดยใช้วิธีสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบง่าย มีเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ประกอบด้วยแบบสอบถาม และแบบสัมภาษณ์ โดยให้ประชากรกลุ่มตัวอย่างทำการตอบคำถาม และสถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล คือ ใช้ค่าร้อยละในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ผลการศึกษาพบว่าระดับความเครียดส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในระดับสูงมากที่สุด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 56.9
สาเหตุของความเครียดส่วนใหญ่เกิดจากสาเหตุจากด้านเศรษฐกิจ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 2.85 สาเหตุจากด้านครอบครัว โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 2.51 สาเหตุจากด้านร่างกาย โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับน้อย โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 2.45 สาเหตุจากด้านจิตใจ โดยรวมอยู่ในระดับน้อย โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยเท่ากับ 2.35 และสาเหตุที่ทำให้เกิดความเครียดน้อยที่สุดคือ สาเหตุจากด้านสังคมและสิ่งแวดล้อม คิดเป็นร้อยละ 2.31 ผลของความเครียดส่วนใหญ่จะส่งผลต่อสุขภาพจิต และทำให้ก่อเกิดโรคต่าง ๆ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 100
ด้วยเหตุและปัจจัยดังกล่าว จึงทำให้คณะผู้วิจัยสนใจที่จะศึกษาปัญหา สาเหตุที่มีผลต่อความเครียดในผู้สูงอายุโรคความดันโลหิตสูง ตามวัตถุประสงค์ 1.เพื่อศึกษาระดับความเครียดของผู้สูงอายุโรคความดันโลหิตสูง 2.เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยของผู้สูงอายุโรคความดันโลหิตสูงกับความเครียด เพื่อให้ทุกคนที่เกี่ยวข้องได้ตระหนักถึงปัญหาของความเครียดที่เกิดขึ้นเพื่อนำไปเป็นแนวทางในการแก้ปัญหากับความเครียดที่เกิดขึ้นอย่างเหมาะสมถูกวิธี ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นหนทางที่จะลดผลกระทบต่าง ๆ ในทางที่เสียหายทั้งต่อบุคคลและสังคมรอบข้างได้ และยังทำให้ประชากรที่อยู่ในชุมชนมีสุขภาวะที่ดีสามารถปรับตัวอยู่ในสภาวการณ์ที่สังคมเปลี่ยนแปลงนี้ได้อย่างปกติสุข
