ในงานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอเกี่ยวกับการแยกประเภทข้อมูลโดยใช้เทคนิคต้นไม้ตัดสินใจ (Decision Trees) และเทคนิคการทำโครงข่ายประสาทเทียม (Neural Network) โดยใช้ชุดข้อมูลมาจาก UCI Machine Learning Repository จำนวน 150 ชุดข้อมูลและเลือกแอตทรีบิวต์ออกแบ่งคลาสมาเปรียบเทียบประสิทธิภาพในการจำแนกประเภทข้อมูล โดยใช้ J48 และ MultilayerPerceptron มาทำการทดสอบวัดประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องและนำมาเปรียบเทียบ ซึงผลการทดลองทั้ง 150 ชุด ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การทดสอบโดยใช้เทคนิคต้นไม้ตัดสินใจ (Decision Trees) ของอัลกอริทึม J48 มีประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องเฉลี่ย 96% เมื่อนำมาเปรียบเทียบกับเทคนิคการทำโครงข่ายประสาทเทียม(Neural Network)ของอัลกอริทึม MultilayerPerceptron ซึ่งมีประสิทธิภาพความถูกต้องที่ดีกว่าคือ 97.33%
