การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นแบบสารวจภาคตัดขวาง เก็บข้อมูลในเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2556 – ธันวาคม 2556 ประชากร คือ คนงานโรงสีข้าวในภาค ตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ โดยมีคุณสมบัติ คือ สัญชาติ ไทย มีอายุ 18 ปี ขึ้นไป ปฏิบัติงานในโรงสีข้าวขนาด กลาง หรือขนาดใหญ่ไม่น้อยกว่า 3 เดือน และยินดี และให้ความร่วมมือในการวิจัย กาหนดขนาดของ กลุ่มตัวอย่างตามวิธีของ Cohen (Cohen, 1988) ได้ จานวนกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 146 คน เลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างโดย ใช้วิธีการสุ่มแบบแบ่งกลุ่ม (Cluster random sampling) โดยมีขั้นตอน คือ นาพื้นท่ีเขตการปกครองที่จะทา การสุ่ม ทั้งหมด 2 เขต โดยแบ่งเป็น เขตภาคตะวันออก- เฉียงเหนือตอนบน และตอนล่าง สุ่มเลือกพื้นที่ขึ้นมา 1 เขต ได้ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนล่าง สุ่มเลือก 3 จังหวัด ได้แก่ จังหวัดท่ี 1 ได้ 69 คน จังหวัดท่ี 2 ได้ 49 คน และจังหวัดท่ี 3 ได้ 28 คน จัดหมวดโรงสี ข้าว โดยนารายชื่อโรงสีใน 3 จังหวัดดังกล่าวท่ีขึ้น ทะเบียนกับกรมการค้าภายใน กระทรวงพาณิชย์ของ แต่ละจังหวัด แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ โรงสีข้าว ขนาดกลาง (มีกำลังสี18 - 30 เกวียนต่อวัน) โรงสีข้าว าว ขนาดใหญ่ คือ (มีกาลังสีมากกว่า 30 เกวียนต่อวัน)
