รวบรวมข้อมูล เพื่อให้ได้ข้อมูลที่ครอบคลุมและตรงตามวัตถุประสงค์ของการวิจัย
นอกจากนี้ก็จะมีการบันทึกเสียงไว้เพื่อเป็นการช่วยความจำข้อมูลที่ได้จากการสัมภาษณ์ ทั้งนี้ผู้วิจัยจะทำการขออนุญาตผู้ให้ข้อมูลก่อนเสมอ เมื่อได้รับอนุญาตจึงจะทำการบันทึก
