สำนักงานประกันสังคมทั่วประเทศเลือกทางเลือกใน การจ่ายเงินสมทบได้ 3 ทางเลือก คือ

ทางเลือกที่ 1 จ่ายเงินสมทบ 100 บาท/เดือน (จ่ายเอง 70 บาท รัฐสนับสนุน 30 บาท)

ทางเลือกที่ 2 จ่ายเงินสมทบ 150 บาท/เดือน (จ่ายเอง 100 บาท รัฐสนับสนุน 50 บาท)

ทางเลือกที่ 3 มี 3 ทางเลือก ดังนี้

ทางเลือกที่ 3 จ่ายเงินสมทบ 200 บาท/เดือน (จ่ายเอง 100 บาท รัฐสนับสนุน 100 บาท)

ทางเลือกที่ 1 และทางเลือก 3 (1+3) จ่ายเงินสมทบ 300 บาท/เดือน (จ่ายเอง 170 บาท รัฐสนับสนุน 130 บาท)

ทางเลือกที่ 2 และทางเลือก 3 (2+3) จ่ายเงินสมทบ 350 บาท/เดือน (จ่ายเอง 200 บาท รัฐสนับสนุน 150 บาท)

หมายเหตุ

รัฐสนับสนุนในระยะแรกทั้งนี้ จนกว่าสำนักงานประกันสังคมจะประกาศเป็นอย่างอื่น
ทั้งนี้ ในการจ่ายเงินสมทบของผู้ประกันตนมาตรา 40 จ่ายเป็นรายเดือน ๆ ละ 1 ครั้ง และจ่ายเงินสมทบล่วงหน้าได้ครั้งละไม่เกิน 12 เดือน แต่ไม่สามารถจ่ายเงินสมทบย้อนหลังได้
ทั้งนี้ผู้ประกันตนที่ประสงค์รับเงินบำเหน็จชราภาพเพิ่มขึ้นสามารถจ่ายเงินสมทบเพิ่มเติมได้ไม่เกินเดือนละ 1,000 บาทต่อเดือน ยกเว้น กรณีทางเลือกที่ 5 (2+3) สามารถจ่ายเงินสมทบเพิ่มเติมได้ไม่เกินเดือนละ 2,000 บาท
ทั้งนี้ผู้ประกันตนที่เลือกความคุ้มครองทางเลือกที่ 3 สามารถจ่ายเงินสมทบย้อนหลังได้ไม่เกินเดือนพฤษภาคม 2555 แต่ต้องจ่ายในระยะเวลา 1 ปี ตั้งแต่วันที่ 9 ธันวาคม 2556 ถึง วันที่ 8 ธันวาคม 2557
