มีสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวหลายแห่งด้วยกัน มันเป็นสิ่งที่สวยงามของธรรมชาติ
และสิ่งเหล่านั้นช่วยทำให้จิตใจสงบ เย็นอย่างสุขุม ผ่อนคลายทำให้สามารถทำอะไรได้หลายอย่างด้วยจิตใจที่ผ่อนคลายได้ ผมจะยกตัวอย่างสถานที่ๆผมประทับใจ ที่อำเภอนครไทย ที่ๆผมได้ไปฝึกประสบการณ์วิชาการ และภาพนี้เป็นภาพที่ผมเป็นช่างภาพ เก็บบรรยากาศและความทรงจำไว้ เป็นภาพแห่งความสวยงามและความประทับใจ
งั้นเรามาเริ่มต้นจากสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประจำที่นั่นกันครับ
อนุสาวรีย์พ่อขุนบางกลางท่าว ตั้งอยู่ในวัดกลางในตัวอำเภอนครไทย เชื่อกันว่าบริเวณนี้เคยเป็นเมืองบางยาง ซึ่งปกครองโดยพ่อขุนบางกลางท่าว (หรือพ่อขุนศรีอินทราทิตย์ ปฐมกษัตริย์แห่งกรุงสุโขทัย) ด้านหลังอนุสาวรีย์พ่อขุนบางกลางท่าว มีต้นจำปาขาว อายุกว่า 700 ปี ลำต้นสูงใหญ่ได้รับการอนุรักษ์ไว้ และยังออกดอกให้ชมอยู่จนทุกวันนี้ นอกจากนี้ที่อำเภอนครไทยยังมีประเพณีปักธงชัยบนยอดเขาช้างล้วงในช่วงวันลอยกระทงอีกด้วย

แหล่งที่ในอดีตเคยเป็นสมรภูมิแห่งการต่อสู้ แต่ในปัจจุบันคงไว้แต่ความสงบ ความร่มรื่น ความงดงามแห่งธรรมชาติ ที่แอบแฝงเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะทางธรณีวิทยาให้ผู้เยี่ยมเยือนได้สัมผัส และเรียนรู้ ทั้งธรรมชาติและประวัติศาสตร์อุทยานภูหินร่องกล้าตั้งอยู่บนรอยต่อของสามจังหวัด คือ อ.ด่านซ้าย จ.เลย อ.นครไทย จ.พิษณุโลก และ อ.หล่มสัก จ.เพชรบูรณ์ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 191,875 ไร่ และได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ เมื่อวันที่ 26 กรกฎาคม 2527 เป็นพื้นที่ที่มีธรรมชาติแปลกตาและสวยงาม ทั้งยังเป็นสถานที่ประวัติศาสตร์ เป็นยุทธภูมิสำคัญในอดีต ที่เกิดจากความขัดแย้งของพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์แห่งประเทศไทย ภูหินร่องกล้ามีลักษณะภูมิอากาศคล้ายกับภูเขาสูงของจังหวัดเลยเช่น ภูกระดึงและภูเรือ เนื่องจากมีความสูงในระดับไล่เลี่ยกัน อากาศจะหนาวเย็นเกือบตลอดปี โดยเฉพาะในฤดูหนาว อุณหภูมิจะต่ำประมาณ 4 องศาเซลเซียส แม้ในฤดูร้อนอากาศก็ยังเย็นสบาย อุณหภูมิเฉลี่ยตลอดปีประมาณ 18-25 องศาเซลเซียสแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่น่าสนใจในเขตอุทยานฯ มีทั้งด้านประวัติศาสตร์และด้านธรรมชาติ ดังนี้ทางด้านประวัติศาสตร์ พิพิธภัณฑ์การสู้รบ เป็นที่ตั้งของศูนย์บริการนักท่องเที่ยว ใกล้กับที่ทำการอุทยานฯ จัดแสดงนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับการสู้รบในอดีต มีสภาพแผนภูมิข้อมูล อุปกรณ์การแพทย์ อาวุธ เอกสารเผยแพร่ลัทธิคอมมิวนิสต์ รวมทั้งนิทรรศการด้านธรรมชาติวิทยาภูหินร่องกล้า นอกจากนี้ ยังมีห้องประชุมสำหรับบรรยายสรุปหรือประชุมสัมมนาโรงเรียนการเมืองการทหาร ตั้งอยู่บริเวณหลักกิโลเมตรที่ 4 เป็นหมู่อาคารไม้ภายใต้ร่มเงาของป่ารกครึ้ม เป็นที่ตั้งของคณะกรรมการเขต 3 จังหวัด คือ จังหวัดเลย จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ และจังหวัดพิษณุโลกเมื่อปี2513 และต่อมาในปีพ.ศ.2520 ได้ก่อตั้งเป็นโรงเรียนซึ่งให้การศึกษาตามแนวทางลัทธิคอมมิวนิสต์




ทางด้านธรรมชาติ

ลานหินแตก อยู่ห่างจากฐานพัชรินทร์ ประมาณ 300 เมตร ลักษณะเป็นลานหินที่มีอาณาบริเวณประมาณ 40 ไร่ ลานหินมีรอยแตกเป็นแนวเป็นร่องเหมือนแผ่นดินแยก รอยแตกนี้บางรอยก็มีขนาดแคบขนาดพอคนก้าวข้ามได้ แต่บางรอยก็กว้างจนไม่สามารถจะกระโดดข้ามไปถึง สำหรับความลึกของร่องหินแตกนั้นไม่สามารถจะคะเนได้ ลักษณะเช่นนี้สันนิษฐานว่าอาจจะเกิดจากการโก่งตัว หรือเคลื่อนตัวของผิวโลก จึงทำให้พื้นหินนั้นแตกออกเป็นแนว นอกจากนี้บริเวณลานหินแตกยังปกคลุมไปด้วย มอส ไลเคน ตะไคร่ เฟิร์น และกล้วยไม้ชนิดต่างๆลานหินปุ่ม อยู่ห่างจากที่ทำการอุทยานฯ ประมาณ 4 กิโลเมตร อยู่ริมหน้าผา ลักษณะเป็นลานหินซึ่งมีหินผุดขึ้นมาเป็นปุ่ม เป็นปม ขนาดไล่เลี่ยกัน คาดว่าเกิดจากการสึกกร่อนตามธรรมชาติของหิน ในอดีตบริเวณนี้ใช้เป็นที่พักฟื้นคนไข้ของโรงพยาบาล เนื่องจากอยู่บนหน้าผา มีลมพัดเย็นสบายผาชูธง อยู่ห่างจากลานหินปุ่มประมาณ 500 เมตร เป็นหน้าผาสูงชัน สามารถเห็นทิวทัศน์ได้กว้างไกล จะสวยงามมากในยามพระอาทิตย์ตกดิน บริเวณนี้เคยเป็นสถานที่ซึ่ง ผกค. ขึ้นไปชูธงแดงรูปค้อนเคียวทุกครั้งที่รบชนะฝ่ายรัฐบาลน้ำตกร่มเกล้า-ภราดร ห่างจากโรงเรียนการเมืองการทหารและกังหันน้ำประมาณ 600 เมตร มีทางแยกเดินลงน้ำตกร่มเกล้า ประมาณ 400 เมตร หากเดินลงไปอีก 200 เมตร จะเป็นน้ำตกภราดรซึ่งมีลักษณะคล้ายกันและอยู่บนลำธารเดียวกัน น้ำตกภราดรมีความสูงน้อยกว่าแต่กระแสน้ำแรงกว่า
น้ำตกศรีพัชรินทร์ ตั้งชื่อเป็นอนุสรณ์แก่ทหารค่ายศรีพัชรินทร์ จังหวัดขอนแก่น ซึ่งเป็นทหารหน่วยแรกที่ขึ้นมาบนภูหินร่องกล้า น้ำตกศรีพัชรินทร์มีความสูงประมาณ 20 เมตร บริเวณน้ำตกมีแอ่งขนาดใหญ่ สามารถลงเล่นน้ำได้น้ำตกหมันแดง เป็นน้ำตก 32 ชั้นในห้วยน้ำหมันซึ่งมีน้ำตลอดปี ต้นน้ำเกิดจากยอดเขาภูหมัน น้ำตกแต่ละชั้นตั้งชื่อคล้องจองกันตามสภาพลักษณะที่สวยงามแปลกตา ห้อมล้อมด้วยป่าดงดิบอันสมบูรณ์ การเดินทาง จากที่ทำการอุทยานใช้เส้นทางสายภูหินร่องกล้า-หล่มเก่า ถึงหลักกิโลเมตรที่ 18 มีทางแยกซ้ายเป็นทางเดินเท้าเข้าสู่น้ำตก ระยะทาง 3.5 กิโลเมตร เส้นทางผ่านป่าร่มครึ้มมีกล้วยไม้ป่า และทุ่งหญ้า
