การวิจัยในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบ และการใช้สัญลักษณ์ที่ปรากฏในภาพยนตร์ตำนาน สมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราช ภาค ๕ ยุทธหัตถี ของหม่อมเจ้าชาตรี เฉลิม ยุคล โดยใช้รูปแบบการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ จากการศึกษาพบว่าภาพยนตร์ ตำนานสมเด็จพระนเรศวรมหาราช ภาค ๕ ยุทธหัตถี มีรูปแบบและสัญลักษณ์ของแต่ละตัวละครที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ทั้งนี้สัญลักษณ์ต่างที่ปรากฏล้วนแล้วมีความหมายทั้งสิ้น ผู้วิจัยพบว่ารูปแบบที่ปรากฏสามารถแบ่งออกเป็น ๒ รูปแบบ ได้แก่ รูปแบบกฎมณเฑียรบาล และรูปแบบกองทัพ ซึ่งสามารถจำแนกรายละเอียดทั้งหมด ๓ ด้าน ได้แก่ ทรงผม เครื่องประดับและการแต่งกาย ปัจจัยเหล่านี้จึงส่งผลให้สัญลักษณ์ที่ปรากฏจำนวน ๔ ประเภท ได้แก่ (๑) สัญลักษณ์ประเภทสัตว์ป่าหิมพานต์ (๒) สัญลักษณ์ประเภทใบไม้มงคล (๓) สัญลักษณ์ประเภทปางพระพุทธรูป (๔) สัญลักษณ์ประเภทเทพเทวดา
