กระกวนการสร้างงานออกแบบ
1. ประวัติความเป็นมาของการออกแบบ
มนุษย์รู้จักการออกแบบมานานแล้ว จากหลักฐานที่นักโบราณคดีขุดค้นพบปรากฏเป็นที่ยืนยันว่ามนุษย์สามารถออกแบบสิ่งของเครื่องใช้มานานกว่า 6,000 ปี รู้จักใช้ความคิดริเริ่ม สร้างสรรค์ ออกแบบลวดลายบนภาชนะ เช่น ลวดลายบนเครื่องปั้นดินเผา บ้านเชียง จังหวัดอุดรธานี
1.1 ความหมายของการออกแบบ
การออกแบบ คือการสร้างสรรค์สิ่งใหม่ หรือการปรับปรุงดัดแปลงของเก่าที่มีอยู่แล้วให้ดียิ่งโดยกระบวนการทางศิลปะในการวางผลก่อนลงมือปฏิบัติ เลือกวัสดุโครงสร้างและวิธีการที่เหมาะสมตลอดจนคำนึงถึงความงามและประโยชน์ใช้สอยในชีวิตประจำวัน
1.2 ลักษณะของการออกแบบ
การออกแบบที่ดีต้องมีลักษณะที่สื่อความหมายได้ง่ายตรงตามวัตถุประสงค์ที่ตั้งไว้ มีความประณีต สวยงาม มีคุณค่าทางด้านประโยชน์ใช้สอยสำคัญ และจะต้องคำนึงถึงการเลือกใช้วัสดุอุปกรณ์ วิธีการ กระบวนการอย่างเหมาะสมอีกด้วย
1.3 ประเภทของการออกแบบ
การออกแบบมีหลายประเภท ซึ่งแต่ละประเภทมีลักษณะและคุณค่าทางด้านความงามและประโยชน์ใช้สอยที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ดังนี้
การออกแบบตกแต่ง คือ เพื่อปรับปรุงตกแต่งสภาพแวดล้อมและสิ่งมีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของคนเราโดยมุ่งประโยชน์ใช้สอยและความงามเป็นหลัก การออกแบบตกแต่งที่จำเป็นต่อชีวิตประจำวันดังกล่าว ได้แก่ การออกแบบตกแต่งภายในและการออกแบบตกแต่งภายนอก
การตกแต่งภายใน คือ การสร้างสภาพสิ่งแวดล้อมภายในอาคารที่เกี่ยวข้องกับความเป็นอยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันของมนุษย์ให้เกิดความสะดวกสบายในด้านประโยชน์ใช้สอบและความงาม โดยอาศัยทางพฤติกรรมและข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ของมนุษย์เป็นหลัก
การออกแบบภายนอก คือ การสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมภายนอกอาคารที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเป็นอยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันของมนุษย์ให้เกิดความสะดวกสบายในด้านประโยชน์ใช้สอบและความงาม โดยอาศัยทางพฤติกรรมและข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ของมนุษย์เป็นหลัก
2. การออกแบบพาณิชยศิลป์
การออกแบบพาณิชยศิลป์ คือ การออกแบบที่เกี่ยวข้องกับธุรกิจการค้า การโฆษณา ประชาสัมพันธ์สู่กลุ่มเป้าหมาย คือ ผู้บริโภค เพื่อให้ผู้บริโภครู้จักสินค้าที่มาอยู่ในท้องตลาดจะได้เลือกบริโภคอย่างเหมาะสมกับสภาพเศรษฐกิจของแต่ละบุคคล
การออกแบบผลิตภัณฑ์ คือ การออกแบบสิ่งองเครื่องใช้ต่าง ๆ ภายในครัวเรือนภายในสำนักงานที่มีความสำคัญต่อความเป็นอยู่ในชีวิตประจำวันของมนุษย์ โดยคำนึงถึง ความทันสมัย ความสวยงาม และประโยชน์ใช้สอยเป็นหลัก
การออกแบบนิเทศศิลป์ คือ การออกแบบติดต่อสื่อสาร สื่อความหมาย ความเข้าใจ ทางสายตาเป็นการส่งข้อมูลข่าวสารจากบุคคลกลุ่มหนึ่งไปยังบุคคลอีกกลุ่มหนึ่งทั้งทางการเขียนการแสดงด้วยท่าทางจนกระทั่งการใช้สื่อต่าง ๆ
การสร้างสรรค์งานจิตกรรม
จิตกรรม เป็นผลงานทัศนศิลป์แขนงหนึ่งที่เกี่ยวข้องสัมพันธ์กับการวาดเขียนและระบายสี มีลักษณะทั่วไปเป็นผลงานบนแผ่นพื้น 2 มิติ แต่ใช้กระบวนการเพ่อสร้างภาพลวงตาให้เกิดเป็นภาพ 3 มิติ โดยใช้สีต่าง ๆ เช่น สีน้ำ สีน้ำมัน สีฝุ่น ฯลฯ เป็นสื่อกลางในการแสดงออกถึงเจตนาในการสร้างสรรค์
โดยทั่วไปแล้ว จิตรกรรมมีหลายเรื่องราวที่ศิลปินนิยมนำมาสร้างสรรค์ ได้แก่
1. จิตรกรรมประเภทหุ่นนิ่ง (Still Life)
2. จิตรกรรมประเภทภาพทิวทัศน์ (Landscape)
3. จิตกรรมประเภทภาพคน (Portrait)
4. จิตรกรรมประเภทภาพสัตว์ (Animals)
5. จิตรกรรมประเภทเรื่องราวจากศาสนา ประวัติศาสตร์ และวรรณคดี (Religion,History and Literature)

ประเภทของจิตรกรรม
จำแนกได้ตามลักษณะผลงานที่สิ้นสุดและวัสดุอุปกรณ์การสร้างสรรค์เป็น 2 ประเภท คือ ภาพวาดและภาพเขียน
1. จิตรกรรมภาพวาด (Drawing) เรียกเป็นศัพท์ทัศนศิลป์ภาษาไทยได้หลายคำ คือ ภาพวาดเขียน ภาพ วาดเส้น หรือบางท่านอาจเรียกด้วยคำทับศัพท์ว่า ดรอวิ้ง (Drawing) ก็มี ปัจจุบันได้นำอุปกรณ์และเทคโนโลยีที่ใช้ในการเขียนภาพและวาดภาพที่ก้าวหน้าและทันสมัยมากมาใช้ ผู้เขียนภาพจึงอาจจะใช้อุปกรณ์ต่าง ๆ มาใช้ในการเขียนภาพ วาดภาพในสื่อสิ่งพิมพ์สามารถแบ่งออกได้เป็น 2 ประเภท คือ
