If you have children then this September’s Food Festival promises more FREE activities than ever before. Every child who comes to the festival will get a FREE activity bag to enjoy as they go around the festival.
Kids Cookery School from KidzKitchen Youngsters can get their hands into the mixing bowl and enjoy messy foodie fun. Parents can also watch – making sure they pick up plenty of useful tips for lunch boxes, interesting dinners and ways of making nutritious vegetables seem like fun. There are just three sessions each day in The Moat at 11am, 1pm and 2.45pm. Book on AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE to guarantee a space!
Grow Cook Learn Join the team from Grow Cook Learn to make and then savour your own delicious, seasonal ‘stone’ soup as a traditional tale of trickery unfolds. As you wait for your soup to cook,taste different types of bread from around the world.Which will you choose to accompany your soup?

Circus Skills: The ever popular circus tent is back again; so learn juggling, watch circus tricks and marvel at the giant bubbles floating around.
Let’s Talk Farming with the NFU will be located just outside the castle and aims to provide information on farming in Britain; what wildlife can be found, how our food moves from the farm to the dinner table, and how farmers are meeting environmental challenges while producing food to feed a growing population.
Children will also be able to pick up fun activity booklets and Let’s Sow Seeds pack so visitors can try their hand at growing a variety of salad leaves in their own home.
