ประวัติความเป็นมา

วัดพระธาตุผาแก้ว เดิมชื่อพุทธธรรมสถานพระธาตุผาซ่อนแก้ว เป็นสถานที่ปฎิบัติธรรมซึ่งมีทิวทัศน์สวยงามรอบด้านมองเห็นผาซ่อนแก้วและทิวเขาสลับซับซ้อน มีศาลาปฎิบัติธรรมประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปหยกงดงามภายในตกแต่งด้วยภาพวาดศิลปะสวยงามแปลกตา ตั้งอยู่ ณ บริเวณเนินเขาในหมู่บ้านทางแดง ต.แคมป์สน อ.เขาค้อ จ.เพชรบูรณ์ ซึ่งได้เริ่มก่อสร้างในราวปลายปี 2547 โดย คุณภาวิณี และ คุณอุไร โชติกูล ได้มีจิตศรัทธาซื้อที่ดินถวายเริ่มแรกจำนวน 25 ไร่ เพื่อก่อสร้างเป็นสถานที่ปฏิบัติธรรมแก่พระสงฆ์ และพุทธศาสนิกชนทั่วไป ปัจจุบันมีผู้ร่วมถวายปัจจัยซื้อที่ดินเพิ่มรวมทั้งสิ้นมีที่ดินรวม 91 ไร่

สถานที่อันเป็นธรรมภูมิที่งดงาม ซึ่งเรียกว่าผาซ่อนแก้วนี้ มีธรรมชาติเป็นภูเขาที่สูงใหญ่ ซ้อนกันเป็นทิวเขาเรียงรายโอบรอบบริเวณศาลาปฏิบัติธรรม และบนยอดเขาสูงตระหง่านนั้น มีถ้ำอยู่บนปลายยอดเขา ซึ่งมีชาวบ้านทางแดงหลายคน ได้เห็นลูกแก้วลอยเหนือฟากฟ้า และลับหายเข้าไปในถ้ำบนยอดผา ชาวบ้านเชื่อว่าเป็นพระบรมสารีริกธาตุเสด็จมา และต่างถือว่าเป็นสถานที่มงคล มีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์และเรียกตามๆ กันว่า "ผาซ่อนแก้ว" และพุทธสถานที่มาตั้งในจุดที่โอบล้อมด้วยทิวเขาดังกล่าว จึงเรียกว่า "พุทธธรรมสถานผาซ่อนแก้ว" เพื่อเป็นนิมิตมงคลแก่ชาวบ้านทางแดง และผู้มาปฏิบัติธรรมสืบไป
