โครงการฉายภาพยนตร์คัดสรร Cinema Diverse : Director’s Choice โดยหอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร เป็นกระบวนการรณรงค์ให้สังคมเปิดรับการชมภาพยนตร์ที่มีเนื้อหาหลากหลาย และเป็นภาพยนตร์ที่ค่อนข้างหาชมยากจากนานาประเทศทั่วโลก โดยในการคัดเลือกได้มีการผสมผสานภาพยนตร์จากทุกภูมิภาคเข้าด้วยกัน ทางผู้คัดเลือกภาพยนตร์ได้เน้นที่การคัดสรรจากเนื้อหาของภาพยนตร์ และคุณภาพของการสร้างงานภาพยนตร์เป็นหลัก ทั้งนี้การฉายภาพยนตร์นั้น มีจุดมุ่งหมายอื่นนอกเหนือไปจากความบันเทิง ยังเป็นการให้ความรู้แก่ผู้เข้าชมในด้านเนื้อหาทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีความแตกต่างหลากหลาย และเป็นอีกช่องทางการเรียนรู้ด้านวัฒนธรรมในแง่มุมที่ภาพยนตร์เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรม การจัดโครงการฉายภาพยนตร์คัดสรร ยังเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้สังคมไทยและกลุ่มผู้รับชมที่สนใจในงานด้านภาพยนตร์ได้มีโอกาสพบปะและพูดคุย ซักถามข้อสงสัย และแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองระหว่างผู้ชมและผู้สร้างงานภาพยนตร์ เกิดการเชื่อมโยงระหว่างผู้สร้างสรรค์งานและผู้เสพงานศิลปะในเชิงของภาพยนตร์ เพื่อให้เกิดปฏิสัมพันธ์กันในเชิงของการเสพสื่อศิลปะอีกรูปแบบหนึ่ง
