Hard Skills หมายถึง ทักษะหลักที่เกี่ยวข้องกับงานโดยตรง เช่น ความรู้ด้านบัญชีการเงินสำหรับพนักงานบัญชี ความรู้ด้านกฎหมายแรงงานสำหรับพนักงานในหน่วยงานทรัพยากรมนุษย์ ความรู้เกี่ยวกับธุรกิจ ผลิตภัณฑ์ และคู่แข่ง สำหรับพนักงานการตลาด ความรู้เกี่ยวกับกรรมวิธีและขั้นตอนการผลิตสำหรับพนักงานฝ่ายผลิต เป็นต้น 

Soft Skills หมายถึง ทักษะที่เกี่ยวเนื่องอันจะช่วยส่งเสริมให้การทำงานมีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น เช่น ทักษะการสื่อสาร ทักษะการสร้างมนุษยสัมพันธ์กับผู้อื่น
