ด้วยกรมพัฒนาพลังงานทดแทนและอนุรักษ์พลังงานได้รับแจ้งจากกระทรวงพลังงานเกี่ยวกับแผนการหยุดซ่อมบำรุงแหล่งผลิตและท่อส่งก๊าซธรรมชาติจากแหล่งผลิตของประเทศสาธารณรัฐแห่งสภาพเมียนมาร์และจากแหล่งผลิตในอ่าวไทยประจำปี 2556-2557 ดังรายละเอียดตามสิ่งที่ส่งมาด้วย ซึ่งอาจมีผลทำให้กำลังกรผลิตไฟฟ้าลดลงจากการผลิตเดิมในช่วงที่มีการหยุดซ่อมบำรุงแหล่งก๊าซดังกล่าว

จากเหตุข้างต้นกรมพัฒนาพลังงานทดแทนจึงใคร่ขอความร่วมมือมายังท่านในการจัดกิจกรรมลดการใช้พลังงานในส่วนที่ไม่มีผลกระทบต่อการผลิต การบริหาร โดยการปิดไฟแสงสว่างหรือปิดเครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าที่ไม่จำเป็นต้องใช้ในช่วงที่มีการหยุดซ่อมบำรุงแหล่งก๊าซดังกล่าวโดยพร้อมเพรียงกัน ทั้งนี้เพื่อแสดงถึงความมีส่วนร่วมและความตระหนักในการลดการใช้พลังงาน ซึ่งส่งผลถึงการลดต้นทุนของหน่วยงาน และส่งผลต่อการลดความต้องการใช้ไฟฟ้าสูงสุดของประเทศในสภาวะวิกฤตพลังงานต่อไป

หากหน่วยงานของท่านได้มีการติดตั้งเครื่องกำเนิดไฟฟ้าสำรอง (Standby Generator) ที่เข้าข่ายเป็นการผลิตพลังงานควบคุมที่ต้องได้รับการอนุญาตผลิตพลังงานควบคุมจากกรมพัฒนาพลังงานทดแทน ขอให้เตรียมความพร้อมในการผลิตไฟฟ้าใช้ในกิจการของท่านเอง ในกรณีที่อาจเกิดสภาวะขาดแคลนพลังงานไฟฟ้าของประเทศในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว
