เมืองโบราณดงละคร เป็นเมืองโบราณสมัยทวาราวดี ตั้งอยู่ในเขตตำบลดงละคร อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครนายก ห่างจากตัวจังหวัดนครนายกไปทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร จุดสูงสุดของเมืองอยู่ที่เนินดินทางด้านทิศตะวันออก สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลปานกลาง 34 เมตร

เมืองโบราณดงละครเป็นเมืองรูปไข่เกือบกลม มีคูน้ำและคันดินโดยรอบ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 3,000 ไร่ และมีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางประมาณ 700-800 เมตร เดิมมีแนวกั้นเป็นคันดินสองชั้นแต่ปัจจุบันเหลือเพียงชั้นนอกชั้นเดียว คันดินชั้นนอกมีความสูงกว่าคันดินชั้นใน แต่คันดินชั้นในมีความหนามากกว่า ลักษณะการสร้างเมืองนั้นติดกับแม่น้ำนครนายกสายเดิม ซึ่งติดต่อกับชายฝั่งทะเลได้ เหมาะแก่การค้าขายทางทะเล และยังสามารถทำการเกษตรได้โดยรอบ เป็นลักษณะเดียวกับเมืองโบราณสมัยทวาราวดีในบริเวณใกล้กันของประเทศไทย คาดว่ามีผู้อยู่อาศัยในช่วงพุทธศตวรรษที่ 12-18 และอยู่ในเครือข่ายการค้าขายทางทะเลในสมัยโบราณ

เมืองโบราณดงละคร ได้รับการประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นโบราณสถานของชาติ ตามประกาศในราชกิจจานุเบกษาเล่มที่ 52 ตอนที่ 75 เมื่อวันที่ 8 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2478
