แหล่งที่ตั้ง
ตั้งอยู่ในเขตภาคเหนือตอนล่างแวดล้อมไปด้วยพื้นที่ป่าเขาเขียวขจี ภูมิประเทศมีทัศนียภาพสวยงามไม่ว่าจะเป็นเขาค้อหรืออุทยานแห่งชาติน้ำหนาว ทั้งยังมีแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางประวัติศาสตร์ที่น่าสนใจคือ อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์ศรีเทพซึ่งได้รับรางวัล Thailand Tourism Award ประจำปี 2543 ประเภทแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางวัฒนธรรมโบราณสถานยอดเยี่ยม รวมไปถึงอาหารขึ้นชื่ออย่างไก่ย่างวิเชียรบุรี ขนมจีนหล่มเก่าและผลไม้ยอดนิยมของจังหวัด คือ มะขามหวานเมืองเพชรและลูกเสาวรส
เมืองเพชรบูรณ์นี้สันนิษฐานว่า สร้างมา 2 ยุค ยุคแรกสมัยสุโขทัยหรือพิษณุโลกเป็นเมืองหลวงสังเกตตามแนวกำแพงเมือง ซึ่งเอาลำน้ำไว้กลางเมือง และยุคสองสมัยสมเด็จพระนารายณ์มหาราช มีป้อมและกำแพงก่อด้วยอิฐปนศิลา สัณฐานคล้ายเมืองนครราชสีมาแต่เล็กและเตี้ยกว่า เอาแม่น้ำไว้กลางเมืองเหมือนกัน เมืองเพชรบูรณ์ที่สร้างทั้งสองยุคนี้สำหรับป้องกันข้าศึกซึ่งจะยกทัพมาจาก ฝ่ายเหนือ เพชรบูรณ์เดิมมีชื่อว่า "เพชรบุร" หรือ "พืชปุระ" อันหมายถึงเมืองแห่งพืชพันธุ์ธัญญาหาร ตัวเมืองตั้งอยู่ห่างจากกรุงเทพฯ ประมาณ 346 กิโลเมตร อยู่สูงจากระดับน้ำทะเลโดยเฉลี่ย 114 เมตร ลักษณะภูมิประเทศเป็นที่ลุ่มแบบท้องกะทะ พื้นที่ของจังหวัดมีลักษณะลาดชันจากทิศเหนือไปใต้ ตอนเหนือเป็นทิวเขาสูง ตอนกลางเป็นที่ราบ ขนาบด้วยเทือกเขาเพชรบูรณ์ทางทิศตะวันออกและทิศตะวันตก มีแม่น้ำสำคัญไหลผ่านคือ แม่น้ำป่าสัก การปกครอง จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 12,668 ตารางกิโลเมตร แบ่งการปกครองออกเป็น 11 อำเภอ คือ อำเภอเมืองเพชรบูรณ์ อำเภอหล่มสัก อำเภอหล่มเก่า อำเภอชนแดน อำเภอหนองไผ่ อำเภอบึงสามพัน อำเภอวิเชียรบุรี อำเภอศรีเทพ อำเภอวังโป่ง อำเภอน้ำหนาว และอำเภอเขาค้อ

3.พระธาตุผาซ่อนแก้ว ชมความงดงามของเจดีย์สีเหลืองทองอร่ามที่เห็นโดดเด่นจับตามาแต่ไกล มาที่นี่นอกจากจะได้สัมผัสบรรยากาศอันแสนเงียบสงบของสถานที่ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์ปฏิบัติธรรมแล้ว เรายังได้สักการะพระบรมสารีริกธาตุในองค์พระธาตุเพื่อเป็นสิริมงคลของชีวิตอีกด้วย

5.เขาค้อ เป็นชื่อเรียกรวมทิวเขาน้อยใหญ่ของเทือกเขาเพชรบูรณ์ ในเขตอำเภอเขาค้อ เหตุที่เรียกกันว่า "เขาค้อ" เพราะป่าบริเวณนี้เดิมมีต้นค้อซึ่งเป็นไม้ตระกูลปาล์มขึ้นอยู่มาก ภูมิอากาศบนเขาค้อเย็นสบายตลอดปีแม้ในฤดูร้อน และค่อนข้างเย็นจัดในฤดูหนาว รวมทั้งมีทัศนียภาพสวยงาม จึงเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่ได้รับความนิยมมากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งของเพชรบูรณ์
