1.4 ขอบเขตของงาน
เนื่องจากการศึกษาความเหมาะสมทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ วิศวกรรม และผลกระทบสิ่งแวดล้อม เพื่อคัดเลือกแนวเส้นทาง/รูปแบบที่เหมาะสม ออกแบบเบื้องต้น ของโครงการทางหลวงพิเศษระหว่างเมือง สายเชียงใหม่ – เชียงราย ได้มีการศึกษาแล้วเสร็จตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2545 แต่ด้วยสภาพปัจจุบันที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปในทุกๆด้าน จึงต้องมีการศึกษาและทบทวน เพิ่มเติมข้อมูลและประเด็นต่างๆทั้งทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ วิศวกรรม และผลกระทบสิ่งแวดล้อมเบื้องต้น ให้ครบถ้วน โดยมีขอบเขตของงานหลักดังนี้

(1) งานทบทวนการศึกษาเดิมและแผนพัฒนาที่เกี่ยวข้อง
(2) งานศึกษาทางด้านเศรษฐกิจและสังคม
(3) งานศึกษาคัดเลือกแนวเส้นทางของโครงการ
