ภาควิชาวิทยาศาสตร์การอาหาร มีวัตถุป

ภาควิชาวิทยาศาสตร์การอาหาร มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการก่อตั้งเพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติ ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการใช้ประโยชน์จากผลผลิตทางการเกษตรโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง รวมทั้งเป็นการรองรับการขยายตัวทางอุตสาหกรรม วัตถุประสงค์ของภาควิชาฯ
1) ผลิตบัณฑิตที่มีความรู้ความสามารถในสาขาวิชาวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีการอาหาร และสาขาวิศวกรรมอาหาร สามารถนำความรู้ไปประยุกต์ใช้งานอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ต่อสังคมส่วนรวม ยึดมั่นในหลักการและเหตุผล มีคุณธรรมและจรรยาบรรณในวิชาชีพ
2) ดำเนินการวิจัย เพื่อพัฒนาความก้าวหน้าทางวิชาการ ให้มีความเป็นเลิศและเผยแพร่ออกสู่สังคม เพื่อนำไปใช้พัฒนาประเทศ
3) บริการวิชาการแก่สังคมและทำนุบำรุงรักษาศิลปวัฒนธรรม เพื่อประโยชน์และเสริมสร้างความเจริญก้าวหน้าทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ และสังคมของประเทศ
