นพ.สุพรรณ ศรีธรรมมา โฆษกกระทรวงสาธารณสุข เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้คอนเทคเลนส์ กำลังเป็นที่นิยมของวัยรุ่นไทย และเสี่ยงอันตรายต่อตา หากใช้ไม่ถูกวิธี หรือใช้ในทางที่ผิด ในการป้องกันปัญหาดังกล่าว เมื่อวันที่ 31สิงหาคม 2553 นายจุรินทร์ ลักษณวิศิษฏ์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงสาธารณสุข ได้ลงนามในประกาศกระทรวงสาธารณสุข ควบคุมมาตรฐานคอนแทค เลนส์ ( contact lens ) หรือเลนส์สัมผัส เพื่อให้มีความปลอดภัยต่อผู้ใช้เลนซ์ชนิดนี้

นพ.สุพรรณ กล่าวว่า ตามประกาศดังกล่าว กำหนดให้คอนแทค เลนส์ เป็นเครื่องมือแพทย์ ผู้ผลิตหรือผู้นำเข้าต้องได้รับใบอนุญาตจากสำนักงานคณะกรรมการอาหารและยา โดยจะต้องจัดให้มีฉลากบนภาชนะบรรจุ หรือหีบห่อบรรจุคอนแทค เลนส์หรือมีไว้เพื่อขาย โดยต้องแสดงข้อความภาษาไทยที่อ่านได้ชัดเจน ทั้งนี้จะมีภาษาอื่นด้วยก็ได้ แต่ความหมายต้องตรงกับข้อความภาษาไทย และในแต่ละรายการจะ ต้องแสดงชื่อคอนแทคเลนส์ และวัสดุที่ใช้ทำ บอกคุณสมบัติของเลนส์เช่นกำลังหักเห รัศมีความโค้ง บอกชื่อของสารละลายที่ใช้แช่เลนส์ ระยะเวลาการใช้งาน ให้แสดงด้วยอักษรความสูงไม่น้อยกว่า 2 มิลลิเมตร ยกเว้นคอนแทคเลนส์ ที่ไม่กำหนดระยะเวลาการใช้งาน มีเดือนปีที่หมดอายุ เลขที่ใบอนุญาตเครื่องมือแพทย์ ชื่อและสถานที่ตั้งของผู้ผลิตหรือผู้นำเข้า ในกรณีที่นำเข้าให้แสดงชื่อผู้ผลิต เมืองและประเทศผู้ผลิตเครื่องมือแพทย์นั้นด้วย

โดย ต้องระบุชนิดของเลนส์ให้ชัดเจนว่า เป็นเลนส์ชนิดใช้งานพียงครั้งเดียว หรือชนิดใส่และถอดทุกวัน พิมพ์ด้วยอักษรสีแดง เพื่อให้ผู้ใช้เห็นชัดเจน รวมถึงข้อความว่า โปรดอ่านเอกสารกำกับเครื่องมือแพทย์ก่อนใช้ และพิมพ์ข้อความว่า การใช้คอนแทคเลนส์ ควรได้รับการสั่งใช้และตรวจติดตามทุกปีโดยจักษุแพทย์หรือผู้ประกอบโรคศิลปะ

1. ห้ามใส่คอนแทคเลนส์นานเกินระยะเวลาที่กำหนด
2. ห้ามใช้ร่วมกับบุคคลอื่น
3.ห้ามใส่คอนแทคเลนส์ทุกชนิดเวลานอน ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็นชนิดใส่นอนได้ก็ตาม ควรถอดล้างทำความสะอาดทุกวัน
และ กำหนดให้พิมพ์ข้อความควรระวัง ผู้ที่ไม่ควรใช้คอนแทคเลนส์ดังนี้คือ ผู้ที่มีสภาวะของดวงตาผิดปกติเช่นเป็นต้อเนื้อ ต้อลม ตาแดง กระจกตาไวต่อความรู้สึกลดลง ตาแห้ง หรือกระพริบตาไม่เต็มที่ และให้ใช้น้ำยาล้างเลนส์ที่ใหม่ และเปลี่ยนน้ำยาฆ่าเชื้อทุกครั้งที่แช่เลนส์ ควรเปลี่ยนตลับใส่คอนแทคเลนส์ทุก 3 เดือน ไม่ควรใส่คอนแทคเลนส์ขณะว่ายน้ำ เนื่องจากอาจทำให้เกิดการติดเชื้อที่ตาได้ โดยผู้ใช้ต้องล้างมือฟอกสบู่ให้สะอาดทุกครั้งก่อนสัมผัสเลนส์ และหากมีอาการผิดปกติเช่น เจ็บหรือปวดตาอย่างมากร่วมกับอาการแพ้แสง ตามัว น้ำตาไหลมาก หรือตาแดง ให้หยุดใช้คอนแทคเลนส์ทันทีและรีบพบจักษุแพทย์โดยเร็ว

ทั้ง นี้ตามประกาศกระทรวงสาธารณสุขดังกล่าว จะมีผลใช้บังคับนับตั้งแต่ถัดจากวันประกาศลงในราชกิจจานุเบกษาเป็นต้นไป โดยผู้จดทะเบียนสถานประกอบการที่ได้ยื่นขออนุญาตผลิตหรือนำเข้าคอนแทคเลนส์ อยู่ก่อนวันที่ประกาศนี้ใช้บังคับและยังไม่ได้รับอนุญาต ให้ถือว่าเป็นผู้ยื่นคำขอผลิตหรือนำเข้าคอนแทคเลนส์ โดยต้องมาแก้ไขเปลี่ยนแปลงรายการในคำขอให้มีรายละเอียดถูกต้องตามประกาศฉบับ นี้ภายใน 30 วัน นับแต่วันที่ประกาศนี้ใช้บังคับ ส่วนผู้ที่ได้รับอนุญาตผลิตหรือนำเข้าคอนแทคเลนส์อยู่ก่อนวันที่ประกาศฉบับ นี้ใช้บังคับ จะต้องยื่นขอแก้ไขเปลี่ยนแปลงรายการตามประกาศภายใน 30 วัน และผ่อนผันให้ใช้ฉลากเดิมได้เป็นเวลา 180 วัน นับแต่วันที่ได้รับอนุญาตแก้ไขเปลี่ยนแปลงรายการ นพ.สุพรรณกล่าว
