King Bhumipol Adulyadej was born on December 5 1927 and has captured the hearts of the Thai people through his devotion to improving the welfare and well-being of his subjects. This day is now celebrated as Father’s Day across Thailand as the King is regarded as the father of the nation and as Nation Day also. It is one of the biggest celebrations held in Thailand alongside New Year and Songkran and Thai people celebrate this most important occasion on a grand scale to show gratitude to their beloved monarch. All levels of Thai society celebrate and show homage on Father’s Day.
