- อาจพบ bite cell ( RBC ที่มีรูปร่างเว้าแหว่ง) anisocytosis,poikilocytosis,polychromasia,NRBC,red cell with hemoglobin leakage
- ถ้าย้อม supravital stain จะเห็น Heinz body
- Recticulocyte อาจสูงถึง 30 % สูงเนื่องจากเนื่องจากเร่งสร้างเม็ดเลือดแดงมาทดแทน
- WBC สูง

ยาที่มีรายงานว่าสามารถทำให้เกิดการแตกทำลายของเม็ดเลือดแดงในผู้ป่วยที่พร่อง Enzyme G-6-PD
- Primaquine
- Quinine
